INTERVENTION OF HOPE
25th September 2010:Thousands will take part in Recovery Walks across the United States. We are all of us part of a new International Recovery Movement.
The day will not be forgotten.
Time to bring Recovery to the streets.Through public expression tell the world we are not the “afflicted”, the “dependant”, the “problems”.We are the faces seen every day in families, neighbourhoods, schools, businesses, institutions and communities.
Through being public about our Recovery we can: Teach, heal, challenge, change the world around us.Open doors for those that still struggle and for the people that love them.Remember those we have lost.
We can:Create new communities of supportShift the focus from ‘Addiction’ to ‘Recovery’Shape public policy and dismantle barriers
In Glasgow in September we will celebrate and publicise a new British Recovery Movement.Celebrate our diversity and ‘difference’, which in unity will be our strength.Declare the Movements intent!
A Movement born of hope, passion, love & commitment; To ensure every individual is afforded the dignity and respect they deserve. To ensure every person still struggling is supported in shaping and finding their Recovery and place within communities.
