TYPES OF

OSCILLOSCOPES..!!

1) Dual beam

oscilloscopes.

2) Digital storage

oscilloscopes.

DUAL BEAM OSCILLOSCOPES :

WORKING :

It consists of two vertical deflection sections-

section A and section B.

It has two electron guns and one electronics switch.

Due to the switch only one beam can be

synchronized at a time.

Since, time base generator is same for both signals,

the signals have same frequency for locking in CRT

screen.

WORKING :

The analog input is converted to digital signal by 10 bit A/D

converter .

For one channel, memory storage capacity is 1024; for 2

channels it is 2048; and for all four channels it is 4096.

The analog input voltage is sampled, recorded in Record

Control.

Once the record is captured, we can make changes in it as

per we require because we can read the record without being

erased.

If memory is read out rapidly and

repetitively, then we can observe a continuous

waveform on the oscilloscope.

Pre-triggering recording allows the input

signal, preceding the triggered points, to be

recorded.

DSO records continuously until it gets a

trigger signal. Once the trigger signal is

received the recording stops.

Thus, the freezing data is stored before the

trigger signal is applied.

Adjustable trigger delay allows the

operator to control the stop point.

In DSO, the new data coming into

memory pushes out old data once

memory is full.
