AMBERLEY C.E. PRIMARY SCHOOL www.amberley.w-sussex.sch.uk Friday 13 th March 2020 Dear Parents, World Book Week During the week the school was visited by pop-up book company ‘Little Bookworms’ and each child was able to exchange their £1 World Book Day token for a book. Many of the children purchased other books to read. On World Book Day, the children made a wonderful effort to dress up as their favourite mysterious character including Harry Potter, Aladdin, lots of witches and wizards, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, a knight and a bat. They participated in many ‘mysterious’ activities throughout the day: writing spells, recipes and poems as well as making magic boxes, wizard hats and magic potions. The whole day was a great success; the children had a great time reading and sharing books together. Thanks go to Mrs Cork for organising this wonderful event. Dear Parents,

World Book Week

During the week the school was visited by pop-up book company ‘Little Bookworms’ and each child was able to exchange their £1 World Book Day token for a book.

On Monday 2nd March, Acorn Class visited St Michael’s Church to participate in the ‘wedding’ of Paisley and Samuel. The children had to dress up as wedding guests and each had a role to play. Freddie was the best man and had the important job of remembering the rings, Poppy and Pippa

“I liked that she showed tonnes of beautiful pictures” – Grace

“I enjoyed learning about Shackleton’s fence that protected his grave from elephant seals!” – Leuen

Coronavirus

We continue to monitor the latest information regarding the virus and are following advice from Public Health England – parents can find the latest information and advice from Public Health England at www.gov.uk/coronavirus. The situation is continuously changing and parents will be regularly updated; please check the school website for updates. In the meantime we continue to encourage handwashing and good hygiene at school. Mothers’ Day Service at St Michael’s Church

Parents are invited to join us for our Mothers’ Day service at St Michael’s Church at 2pm next Friday (20th March). All parents and friends of the school are warmly welcomed to join us. Children can be collected from church at the end of the service. Children whose parents are unable to collect them from church will be walked back to school by their class teacher and can be collected from the playground as usual. After school Invasion Games club will run as usual.

Easter Service, Tuesday 31st March

A reminder that our Easter Service on Tuesday 31st March will be a little different. ‘Easter Explored’ will run from 9am to 10.15am in the church grounds and will be an interactive event which parents are encouraged to join in. The children will be divided into small groups and will take part in a range of activities, each hosted by someone from the church who will retell part of the Holy Week story. Parent helpers will be needed! Parents are asked to take their children straight to the church; where this is not possible, staff will walk with those children who are dropped at school.

Easter Egg Hunt

FASA’s Easter Egg Hunt will take place in the school grounds from 3:15pm on Thursday 2nd April. Parking Reminder

We have had a polite request from a local Amberley resident to remind parents not to park across residents’ driveways when dropping off their children in the morning and collecting them at the end of the school day. This has been particularly problematic during the recent flooding of School Road. Yours sincerely
