This weekend’s second collection is the monthly appeal for our parish St. Vin-cent de Paul Society.

Next weekend’s collection is for Catho-lic Relief Services.

to the hundreds and hundreds of households who have responded with a pledge to the 2018 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, either during Mass or by mail or online. You have set us on a trajectory to excel once again this year.

While much of the Church’s ministry takes place in our parishes, we also come to-gether as a archdiocesan Church to carry out critical services and ministries that have impact beyond any one parish. Your support for the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal helps bring the spiritual and corporal works of mercy to life in your parish as a part of our overall effort to spread and deepen faith in the Merciful Lord throughout the arch-diocese. Through your generous gifts we can continue the work we were called to do as Christians: educate our seminarians, support our retired priests, provide catechesis to our children and protect the rights of the unborn.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to make your pledge to the 2018 Appeal, please be generous in your response. For more information, or to donate online, go to appeal.archatl.com.

Don’t forget to make and fulfill a pledge to the 2018 AAA! According to the Archdiocesan Parish Verifica-tion Form, an “active” Catholic family: (1) is registered in their parish; (2) partici-pates regularly at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days; (3) has a parish Time & Talent commitment on file for the current year and participates in at least one parish minis-try; (4) has a parish Treasure commitment on file for the current year and contributes on a regular basis; and (5) fulfills a pledge to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal for the current year. Those who do not meet these criteria are not eligible for “active Catho-lic” tuition. Please do the right thing now so that your pastor is able to check “active” when your verification form crosses his desk.

Next week, our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection (CRSC). Funds from this collection help provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refu-gees, and Christ’s love and respect to all people here at home and abroad. Next week, please give generously to the CRSC and help Jesus in disguise. Learn more about the collection at www.usccb.org/catholic-relief.

Sacred Journeys: An Introduction to Christian Pilgrimage

Sacred Journeys February 25 - March 18

10:15-11:15 a.m. IHM School Library

The season of Lent may be likened to a pilgrimage: a sacred journey with Jesus to-ward Jerusalem, the scene of his passion and resurrection. During the Sundays of Lent, we will pause to consider the nature of pilgrimage and to hear from parishion-ers about their own sacred journeys to Italy, Ethiopia, and the Holy Land. All are welcome.

Saturday, March 10 3:00-3:30 p.m. IHM Church

Do you wonder how to teach young children about the cross in an appropriate way? Join us in the church at 3:00 pm for a special format of the Stations of the Cross. Rainey Jarrell, a certified Catechesis of the Good Shepherd instructor, will lead fami-lies through the stations in a manner that young children (ages 2-5) can remember and understand.

Sunday, March 11 6:15-7:15 p.m. IHM Church

This is a parish-wide time of adoration and benediction with praise and worship mu-sic. Come encounter Jesus in a different way this Lenten season. Appropriate for all ages.

“A spring of water welling up to eternal life” At the 11:30 and 1:30 Masses this Sunday, we will witness the first of three scruti-nies. These are ancient rites in which the Elect (those to be baptized at Easter) seek Christ’s enlightenment and healing. Like other Lenten disciplines, the scrutinies are not for the Elect alone. The Church asks all of us to examine ourselves this week and identify the areas of spiritual dryness in our lives. During Lent we recognize that the world around us can often appear barren. But we also remember that, through bap-tism, we have access to the living water that Jesus promised the Samaritan woman (John 4:7-15).
