Greetings Area 2! Fall is in the air, which means its choir season! I hope your rehearsals are off to a wonderful start. There were some exciting events in Area 2 this summer. In July, we welcomed National Seminar to Rochester, New York. Days were filled with inspiring classes, concerts and fellowship. How wonderful to see so many Area 2 faces at a national event! In August, we had our first Challeng(R)ing in Hackettstown, New Jersey and it was a success! Nearly 50 registrants worked with Michael Joy and Karen Buckwalter to stretch their technique and musicality to the next level. We also held our annual meeting where we shared about our past year, and the new programs and events in both Area 2 and Handbell Musicians of America. This fall we have six Back to Bell workshops taking place in Pennsylva- nia, New York and New Jersey. Led by members of the board, this National initiative provides free support and instruction for directors to start or restart a handbell program. As our board continues to plan for winter and spring workshops as well as our Festival and Young RingersConferences at Onondaga Community College, I invite you to think about your handbell goals for the year. Whether you are a director, ringer or choir, I hope your goals include attending an Area 2 event this year. Even more, consider volunteering to help keep the art of handbell ringing alive in our area. Host a workshop, serve on a committee or volunteer to help with the Festival. Or perhaps, you are ready to be a part of the Area 2 board. Contact a current member of the board to find out more and volunteer today! Happy Fall and Happy Ringing, Jill Jill Fedon Area 2 Twice Tolled Tales TWICE TOLLED TALES September 2016 Please Forward and Share! Attention Directors – don’t forget to forward all Area 2 emails and Twice Tolled Tale issues to your ringers. As members of your choir, they are also members of Area 2. Help keep them in the Area 2 loop and encourage them to be active participants in their handbell community.

Are you planning your own local handbell workshop or event?

Please consider applying to have your event endorsed

by Handbell Musicians of America.

An Endorsed Event is an event that is presented by a member or member organization of Handbell Musicians of America. To qualify, your event must be educational in nature such as a festival, conference, seminar, read-ing session, or a workshop. Stand-alone performances and concerts are not eligible for endorsed status. However, concerts that occur during your event are considered part of its educational nature.

There are many benefits to you and your organization when your event is en-dorsed:

General Liability Coverage

Property Coverage for Loaned or Borrowed Equipment used by the event presenter for the benefit of the event as a whole

Inclusion in the Handbell Musicians of America Event Calendars on our website and in each issue of Overtones

A web link from the event calendar listing to your website to provide more event details

Access to the Handbell Musicians of America membership data to direct market your event to handbell enthusiasts

For detailed information regarding the benefits, criteria, and application process associated with an endorsed event visit the website: http://handbellmusicians.org/events-networking/events/sponsored-endorsed-event-information/

Then we can add it to our Area 2 Belletin Board!
