Transcript of Laurel Sternberg's Musicians
Young Musical Prodigies
Art of the Italian Renaissance idealized beauty. Similarly, I painted young contemporary musicians, at their best, in a moment of
concentration and dedication to their art.
The musicians were actually playing their instruments, not holding a pose.
I was interested in the beautiful ways the musicians’ hands dance on their instruments. One musician played an antique Stradivarius cello,
and I included the marks of 200 years’ usage.
The provenance of this series includes international exhibitions, from California, to Chicago and New York, and on to Jerusalem.
Select the painting which includes your favorite instrument, or build your own chamber orchestra with several of them. If you are a major
cultural patron, please consider purchasing the entire series, to place it in the performing arts center of your choosing.
California Reflection gives the
impression Patricia is performing on
stage, but the reflection in her French
horn show that she's playing to a
California sunset.
Circle of Keys
My first model in this series was a teenaged
prodigy. Dan’s dedication and focus were clear
in his facial expression..
Rippling Reed
The smooth, rippling melodies,
possible from a clarinet, remind me of
the splashing of a woodland spring.
In Command
Lily excels at almost everything
she tries. Here she plays an
antique Stradivarius cello.
Irish Sax
Shannon has high energy and
determination, and has been actively
performing and recording since her
teens.
Smoldering Percussion
Cindy had already been playing
drums for ten years, at the age of 15.
Something is burning in those eyes.
Struggle for Perfection
Nathan's face reveals the angst of
an artist who cares that his work is
the best it can be.
Select the painting which includes your favorite instrument, or
build your own chamber orchestra with several of them.
If you are a major cultural patron, please consider purchasing
the entire series, to place it in the performing arts center of your
choosing.
These framed canvases are sized at 64cm x 74cm or 64cm x 84
