Governor indicated on...in his inaugural remarks, this is not
going to be a particularly easy time for the people that had
enough faith and confidence in us to send us hare to act on
their behalf. We have some very difficult daysm some diffi-
cult decisions to make. I am confident tbat the Illinois

reelected the President of tbe Illinois Senate. And 1 once
again pledge my cooperation and help. I think that most
people around the legislative process would have to say that
Senator Rock and with the other legislative leadersv try
to wark reasonable solutions to tougb problems. He may be of
the opposite part: but I think we*re of the same philisophv,
what*s gaod for the State of Illinois is good for the people,
a11 the people. So we will be here. we*ll be a stroogv loud
minorityv but when it gets down to solving problems you know
that weell be there and we4ll try to work things out. I#d
also Iike to thank mv leaders aod my members on this side of
the aisle for giving me the opportunity once again to serve
as your spokesman and vour leader. I appreciate that and Mou

Hawkinsonv Seoator Nadiqan, Senator Raica. Look forward to
working with them. I know tbat you*ll learn to love and
respect the Senate the wav I have and tbe way we have and
think that you*ll enlo? your term of office. And it's
always very difficult to sit down and figure out vour leader-
sbip because we have so many deserving and well-quatiried
people Whov quite franklv. deserve leadersbip and vou know we
can*t put everybody in leadershîp. At this timem would
like to make my announcements, Assistant Minorit? Leader.
