Safety

Tusker Trail’s primary concern on their Kilimanjaro climbs is safety. Tusker’s professional, medically-trained mountain guides monitor climbers every step of the way and are considered the finest on the mountain. Because of Kilimanjaro’s extreme environment, accidents and fatalities are a serious concern. While no one can completely guarantee a climber’s safety, Tusker Trail’s leaders are fully prepared for high altitude medical challenges, including expert evacuation. They are meticulously trained to save lives during high altitude emergencies. Tusker Trail’s 50- hour intensive High Altitude First Responder medical training course is not offered by any other company on Mount Kilimanjaro, and climbers can be rest assured that Tusker Trail’s guides have received the most comprehensive medical training in the business. Tusker Trail’s Kilimanjaro summit rate is 99%---more than double the average on the mountain.

‘Elevated’ Cuisine

The most pleasantly surprising highlight of the Kilimanjaro climbing experience with Tusker Trail is quite possibly the cuisine. For a five-year period, Tusker Trail has engaged the Culinary Institute of America to train their Kilimanjaro chefs. The Culinary Institute of America has also been enlisted to design Tusker’s extraordinary ‘mountain menus’. Working closely with Chef David Kamen, professor of culinary arts, and Chef James Hanyzeski CMC, Tusker Trail owners Eddie and Amy Frank have brought a whole new meaning to the term "elevated cuisine." While climbing Kilimanjaro, adventurers will enjoy sumptuous, carefully prepared meals made with fresh meat, fruits, and vegetables. Guests dine in comfort in roomy all-weather dining tents equipped with tables, folding chairs, and gas lamps for warmth and lighting.
