    TURBINE ENGINES

A turbine engine has a section dedicated to each function, the cis performed continuously

The parts of a turbine engine are:

    An air inlet

    Compressor Section

    Combustion Section

    Turbine Section

    Exhaust Section

    Accesory Section

Systems for starting, Lubrication, Fuel Supply, and auxiliary purpo

Components of turbine engines are basically the samenomenclature of the various component parts becamanufacturer's terminology.

There are 4 types of turbine engines:

    Turbofan.

    Turboprop.

    Turboshaft.

    Turbojet.

    AIR ENTRANCE

Air intake is designed to duct aircompressor with a minimum energyloss, air compressor should arrivewithout turbulence to achievegreater efficiency.

    ACCESSORY

    SECTION

This space is for mounting ofaccessories necessary for operationand

    control of the engine.

The basic elements of the accessorysection are:

    COMPRESSOR SECTION

Its function is to provide sufficient air

amount to meet the requirements of thecombustion burners.

another function of compressor is suppliedbleed air for various purposes in the engine andthe aircraft.

    Compressor Types

The two principal types of comprecurrently being used in gas turbinengines are centrifugal flow and a

    DIFFUSER

The diffuser is the divergent section of the engine after the cand before the combustion section. It has the all-important freducing high-velocity compressor discharge air to increasedat a slower velocity.

    COMBUSTION SECTION

The primary function of the combustion

section is, of course, to burn the fuel/airmixture, thereby adding heat energy tothe air. All combustion

    chambers contain the same basicelements:

    1. Casing

    2. Perforated inner liner

    3. Fuel injection system 4. Some means for initial ignition

    5. Fuel drainage system to drain offunburned fuel after

    engine shutdown
