Hydroflux Industrial is Australia’s most experienced specialist water treatment contractor working within the Tunnelling Industry. Our engineers have been involved in the design and construction of both temporary and permanent water treatment plants since the late 90’s throughout Australia.

We have a long history of supplying water treatment systems ranging in capacity from 1L/s to over 200L/s suitable for water containing a vast range of solids concentrations and types, and other contaminants. Our water treatment capabilities specifically for tunnelling operations include slurry and solids handling and dewatering, coarse and fine filtration, clarification, flotation, carbon filtration and membrane systems. Our plants are tailored to achieve any discharge criteria as required by the EPA or in accordance with the ANZECC guidelines, as well as produce recycled water for reuse.

Hydroflux has the largest team dedicated to water treatment, with over 40 specialist staff in Sydney available to support the project.

CURRENT PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Melbourne MetroDesign and construction of treatment plants for SEVEN sites ranging in flow from 1 L/s to 20 L/s. The process involves clarification, solids dewatering and handling, multimedia filtration and due to the presence of PFAA and hydrocarbons, additional carbon filtration and ion exchange are included at some sites.

WestgateDesign and construction of treatment plants for THREE sites ranging in flow from 12 L/s to 20 L/s. The process involves clarification, solids dewatering and handling plus multimedia filtration to enable recycling of the water.

BELOW GROUND SOLUTIONS

Tunnelling can be an unpredictable operation where significant and variable solids loads and water volumes are deposited within the tunnel during excavations. As well as treating material on the surface, managing solids within the tunnel is a key part of the overall solids handling and water treatment strategy. Hydroflux have developed a unique deployable process called the TunnelMATE™ which effectively removes and dewaters solids from the waste stream prior to transfer of the water to the surface for treatment, polishing and discharge.

The TunnelMATE™ is designed to dewater solids collected within fish tanks and other primary separation devices and produce a dry cake. The advantage of this process is that the dewatered solids are transported to the surface with other spoil produced during the operation of the plant. This saves considerably on the cost of maintenance and energy necessary to pump concentrated slurries to the surface and prevents overloading of the above ground treatment plant.
