April 29, 2018 Easter Fifth Sunday Sunday “B” Weekday “2”

“I am the vine, you are the branches.” (JN 15:5)

John the Evangelist quoted these words from the teaching our Lord gave to his apostles right after the Lord’s Supper and before his betrayal and arrest. Our Lord lets us know that to bear fruit for the glory of God, as well as to survive the trials and tribulations of life, we must stay rooted in Christ. We cannot truly do good or enjoy true goodness if we are not one with our Lord Jesus Christ. Good times and bad times are only diversions if one’s heart is not set on true peace and harmony which only Christ can give us. Pope Francis has given us a refreshing call to holiness that can help us in our efforts to be faithful Children of God who seek eternal life and happiness in Christ.
