TUBESHOR 320 TUBULAR STEEL SHORING SYSTEM
Tubeshor 320 - Introduction
The RMD Kwikform Tubeshor 320 steel shoring system is typically used for propping hydraulic walings, frames, or
capping beams in excavation support applications but can also be used as a vertical or inclined prop on non ground
shoring jobs. The system comprises modular extensions fabricated from grade S355 323.9 x 8mm CHS connected
together using unique asymmetrical bolted ring flanges arranged to provide maximum bending moment capacity at the
joints in horizontal propping arrangements.
The system provides two options for mechanically adjusting the length of the prop, the Telescopic Jack option provides
1300mm of adjustment. Alternatively Megashor Jacks can be fitted at both ends end which gives 420mm of
adjustment. All components have integral lifting points, stands and stacking aids which enhance the safety and
convenience of storage/transport as well as ensuring secure forklift handling and stability for assembly on site.
For shorter length ground shoring props the Megashor system is used and for completeness product data is included in
this manual. For Megashor data for non ground-shoring applications refer to Megashor system data sheets.
Design to EN Standards
RMD Kwikform Tubeshor has been designed in accordance with EN14653, manufactured in accordance with EN 1090
and carries the reassuring CE quality compliance mark.
To facilitate a simplified scheme design using established permissible load methods, load performance data in this
document is displayed as an ‘Allowable Working Load’ (AWL). Should Limit State Design be required, the Design
Resistance may be obtained by multiplying the Allowable Working Load by 1.5.

APPLICATIONS
Allowable Working Load Charts To facilitate a simple scheme design using established permissible load methods, load performance data is displayed
as an Allowable Working Load. Should limit state design be required, Design Resistances may be obtained by
multiplying Allowable Working Loads by 1.5.
Graph values have been obtained using non-linear second order analysis including all relevant load actions and
geometric imperfections.
Ground Shoring Applications Props are arranged such that they restrain one or both sides of an excavation. In this mode Tubeshor systems are
designed to comply with EN 14653: Manually Operated Hydraulic Shoring Systems for Groundwork Support,
EN1993: Design of Steel Structures, and CIRIA C760: Guidance on Embedded Retaining Wall Designs.
Boundary Conditions
Simply supported props having pinned ends with end axial load applied with an eccentricity of 10% of the end bar
diameter (10mm).
Geometrical Imperfections
An initial out of straightness of L/350, where L is the overall prop length, acting either up or down resulting from a
combination of raw material out of straightness of L/500 plus an allowance for additive tolerance during manufacture.
Assembled props have been found to be much straighter than this.
A reduced bending strength for the bolted joints (verified by full scale load testing) has been taken into account when
generating load capacity charts for Tubeshor 320.
Load Actions and Partial Factors
A material factor of 1.1 has been used on resistance properties (moment and axial).
Self-Weight - Gk is represented by a uniformly distributed load of 0.63 kN/m with a partial load factor 1.35
Geotechnical Loading - Gk,GEO is applied with a partial load factor of 1.5
Accidental Loading - Qk,accidental of 10kN acts as a central downward point load with a partial load factor of 1.0
