MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT JUDY COTE [email protected]
May is here, the rains have come and flowers bloomed, and soon we will transition to the hot weather of summer. School will be out in one more month and the kids will be ready for some summer fun! This is my favorite time of year! And, the kids love being out of school, sleeping later, and being less scheduled. We don’t want them to get bored though! So, join AECPTA for a plethora of fun and educational activities this May and throughout the summer!
The kickoff of the season for AECPTA will be our Spring Member Party. We are cooking up some spicy fun with a Cinco de Mayo theme. The Goddard School has graciously lent us their space, which includes a gym with a climbing wall and an outdoor playground. We will have food, games, and loads of fun for the whole family!
On June 1st, it will be time for the new board to take over and plan for the 2011-2012 year. Several of our current board members are taking on new positions and/or taking on multiple positions. Some board members are stepping down from their positions due to time conflicts with new employment. Currently, we have 4 members covering all 7 board positions! The field trips, MNOs, parties, and excellent Programs make AECPTA such a wonderful organization for preschool-aged children and their parents, but we need your assistance. PLEASE consider taking a board position or volunteer position! Every little bit helps, and many of the positions are not very time consuming on their own. Come grow with us, make lasting friendships, and keep this extraordinary PTA alive and thriving!

TOP TEN REASONS FOR JOINING THE AECPTA BOARD
10. We can find a job for you that you would enjoy doing and that will fit into your schedule.
9. Our board meetings are a lot of fun and only happen once a month.
8 We are all open minded and value everyone else's opinions. We love new ideas!
7. You will learn so much by participating – it will give you a lot of opportunity for self growth.
6. No experience needed! There is PTA training available for your position and many former position
holders to help offer guidance.
5. You have more input on running the club and can share your special projects with the group.
4. Your efforts have a real impact helping children and parents in our community. You will be teaching
your own children to volunteer by example.
3. What you learn as an AECPTA board member and participant is great training for when your
children start in school and you get involved in their elementary PTA.
2. Leadership positions in PTA look great on a resume.
1. Becoming involved is the BEST way to make lasting memories and friendships for yourself and your
children!
For more information on available opportunities please contact Judy Cote at [email protected].

COMMUNITY SERVICE SARAH HAUSER [email protected] EarthFest was our April service project - we had 10am-1 covered but ended at 12:30 when the water ran out. Thanks to Roberta, Judy, and Amanda for volunteering! For May, we will be collecting donations for Mosaic Family Services in Dallas at our Meeting on May 11th. They are a regional non profit that helps victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Their clients often come to them with nothing and they give donations directly to the individuals. They will take women’s, children’s, and baby clothes in all sizes, baby supplies such as diapers (all sizes, open packages okay), baby wipes, baby formula & food, strollers, car seats, high chairs, booster seats, baby swings, baby jumpers, bassinets, playpens, toys, and also toiletries, linens, cleaning supplies, and lots of other things. I was told that their main needs right now include kids underwear and socks, and face wash for teens. (They do not take men’s clothing as their main clientele is women and children.) See http://www.mosaicservices.org/donate/needed.php for more info. If you cannot come to the May meeting and have items to donate please let me know and I will pick them up from you. They will also provide tax receipts.
