Can you feel it? My family and I love autumn. We love the cooler temps that allow more outdoor activities, making new friends, the leaves changing to beautiful burgundies, oranges and yellows, and the most fun holiday (Halloween) and reflective and soul-warming holiday (Thanksgiving). As one of my favorite quotes best sums up the happiness of autumn: “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” ~Albert Camus Thank you to Sarah Menini for doing an excellent job as Secretary this past year and summer. SEPTEMBER 2013

Join us in September for our first general meeting of the year. Meet new friends, learn about upcoming events with the AECPTA, and hear a great speaker.

Date & Time: Friday, September 13th from 9:30 AM—11:00 AM Location: Christ the Servant Lutheran Church 821 S. Greenville Avenue Allen, TX 75002

Topic & Speaker:

Backyard Farming in the City Cindy Telisak from Jacob’s Farm http://www.jacobsreward.com

Come learn about Jacob's Reward Farm, a working home-stead tucked away in nearby Parker, TX, where shepherd Cindy Telisak raises chickens for eggs, and sheep and alpacas for their fiber. Learn how you can benefit from the products of suburban farming, and see the "lost" craft of spinning in action. See how getting back to nature can help the environment, and make suburban life more fun!

September General Meeting

We have a fantastic mommy swag bag

giveaway for this meeting only. So be sure to come and RSVP ahead of time

on Meetup so we can have enough for

everyone!

Community Partner Projects

We have some great fund raising partnerships with our local grocery stores. This is an easy and wonderful way to support AECPTA and our kids all year round. If cards are needed they can be picked up at any General Meeting.

Tom Thumb Tom Thumb’s Good Neighbor Program donates a percent-age of your purchases back to AECPTA. Use your Re-ward card and the AECPTA number, 7573, to take advan-tage of this fund raising program. Register at your Tom Thumb grocery store customer service desk to link our number to your card.

Kroger *Please note- you’ll need to have this barcode scanned again in October for re-enrollment!* Kroger’s Neighbor to Neighbor Donation Program, To enroll simply take this AECPTA bar code to the cashier when you check out.

When this bar code is scanned with your Kroger card you link all future purchases too. No need to scan the bar code each time you shop. Kroger will keep track of it for us. Kroger will donate money to the AECPTA based on our annual spending.

Ways and Means [email protected]

Great Clips I have 100 cards from Great Clips haircut salon and will be distributing them to our members. Please take some ex-tras to pass along to your local friends. For each haircut, anyone who shows our card at Great Clips will get a $2 discount, and in addition, Great Clips will contribute $2 to AECPTA. This is a phenomenally generous gesture and an amazing opportunity that could be a real revenue gen-erator. Great Clips is located at 1512 E Exchange Pkwy (and Angel Parkway), next to the Neighborhood Walmart and Napoli’s.

Car Decals I also have car decals with our AECPTA logo, free to our members. I can take appointments to install it on your car. Alicia Loran, a friend of Judy’s, was originally com-missioned to make them at a great price. She decided to donate them to us. Thank you so much to Alicia Loran for her generosity. She has a passion for creating vinyl cut-ting related crafts and owns her own vinyl cutter and soft-ware. She’s just doing it for fun now, but I wonder if she will eventually start a business doing that. She runs in marathons, triathalons etc. and is involved in a running club in Allen called “Moms Run This Town – Allen Mckin-ney Plano Frisco”. If you are into running, check them out on Faceook! https://www.facebook.com/groups/allenMRTT/

Big Noodle Books

http://www.bignoodlebooks.com/bookstore/AllenEarlyChildhoodPTA151 Please keep Big Noodle Books in mind for summer read-ing needs and back to school book purchases. We get a 5% percentage of the proceeds back to AECPTA. Our next premium week for 20% of purchases is 10/11/2013 to 10/18/2013.

Childhood PTA

The Allen Early Childhood PTA is a network of families dedicated to promoting

the welfare of children from birth to kindergarten through parent education pro-

grams, community service and organized family activities. We provide support

for parents, teachers, family members and caregivers. The AECPTA is part of

the largest non-profit organization in the nation. The AECPTA offers a founda-

tion for affirming our young children as they grow and for building

parental support of our children as they enter formal school years.
