Northern Child

I’m from a place up North, Where people live in long houses,Where ice caps form every now and then,Where people created boats and weapons,Where everyone in a village lived together,

I’m from long voyages south,To find and conquer more land,And put an age of darkness on the people already there,Declaring a New Empire above old barbaric people,Who view us as Barbarians

I from the voyages to the new world,Following Leif Ericson,Finding and founding Greenland,And Founding Iceland,And setting foot into Canada.

I’m from a family of Pagans, I destroyed Christian monasteries and stole their money,I killed the defenseless monks, And left the dead where they died,For which the Vikings named me Bloodshed Kilkenson

I tell stories of giants and monsters,Which people call Norse Myths,My favorites containing Thor,The God of Thunder,Like the One in which he tries to prove his strength to the Giant King,By lifting the Giant Cat,But Thor can only lift one of the cat’s paws

Now I am all grown up,I lived to the end, But now I die of battle wounds,And enter Valhalla,I was a northern child.
