I am from the wild geraniums and Dutchman's britches, the daffodils transplanted from the Wallace farm. I am from quiet times and Sunday dinners, from both wild and reserved-- from Mary and Faith and Grace. I am from the hermits and storytellers. From special peanuts and no singing at the dinner table. I am from gingerbread houses and neighborhood Easter egg hunts-- agnostic celebrations of Christian holidays. I am from the Wisconsin and northern Europe, rugula and Yorkshire pudding.
