It was great to see the children applying the swimming, biking and running skills we have been practicing at school in a challenging context. A part of our school curriculum and an important life skill we set ourselves goals and strategies to work through challenging situations. Recently there have been repeated messages in the media about the high death toll due to drowning and the need for all New Zealand children to learn to swim especially since we are surrounded by water. It is the aim of the NZ Swim that all children should be able to swim 200m before leaving primary school. Leaving School at 8:30am 9:30-11:00 - We will be using the Marine Metre Squared resource supplied by New Zealand Marine Centre to sample the area ad look for evidence of what lives there. We will count and record animals and plants that live on and under the surface.

Hairy MacLary Sculpture Project “Hairy MacLary came from a tiny sketch in an ideas book that popped into my mind from goodness knows where and I just thought he looked as though he needed a book!” Dame Lynley Dobb 11:00am-11:30 We will visit Hairy MacLary and his friends bronze sculptures on the Tauranga waterfront.

Down Wharf Street and across The Strand, came Hairy Maclary to play with his gang……. Walk around/up Mount Maunganui 11:45-1:30pm – we will have lunch and swim at Pilot Bay Mt Mauganui DataBase

We are looking for an administrator extraordinaire to help out the PTA with our Wild Game

Hunt project. We need someone to help us out with emails, databases, media releases and

communication. This can be a behind the scenes role to assist with the smooth running of this

great event.
