Troy Turner is a Geologist with over 20 years’ experience covering exploration, resource geology and operations for the coal and industrial minerals sectors, with a strong combination of multi-disciplinary technical skills, coal geology expertise and mining business management acumen. Troy specialises in exploration program planning, resource estimates, 3D modelling and conceptual mining studies as well as being a highly regarded qualified competent person under the JORC code.

Exploration: Evaluation of historical data and exploration program designs in Australia, Indonesia and Africa.

Resource Assessments: Geological modelling, coal quality and resource estimates for further use in mine planning

Design: 3D Mine modelling and detailed pit design

Short Term Planning: Creation of operational plans for immediate implementation

Long Term Planning: Identification of key value drivers, capability analysis and strategic advice

Project Management: Leading multi-disciplinary teams on both coal resource assessment and mining studies

Operations Management: Including equipment selection utilisation and operational review projects.

Due-Diligence: Strong negotiation skills to maintain productive communications and a proactive approach in client follow up at critical project stages

Software Proficiency: Minescape, Vulcan and design modules.

Career Highlights

Xenith: Troy has focussed the Resource Development group in completing numerous public reports in accordance with the JORC code. He has led conceptual mining studies for many clients to identify the value drivers for the project, and to allow key decisions on forward expenditure. He has acted as the owner’s representative in due-diligence and M&A., and for various JV partners in operations and projects in Australia and overseas.

Rio Tinto: Implemented a coal quality blending strategy for mining through old workings areas to ensure consistent product coal specifications.
