>ENGAGE GOD

>ENGAGE GOD AMERICAN IDOLS -“American Idols” We all have idols; false gods. We don’t mean to but we do. The 1st Commandment tells us to have “no other gods.” This 5-week series continues today as we explore a variety of “American Idols” that seek to push Jesus out of the center of our lives and which get in the way of faithfully following Him. Today’s topic is comfort, June 19 will Focus

on work, June 26 will be Approval, July 3 will be Patriotism. COMING JULY 10—The summer sermon series Refreshed. . . .Discovering the things of God in the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Details coming soon. OUTDOOR SERVICE BEGINS JUNE 26—Trinity will again have outdoor worship during the 11 a.m. service once a month during the summer. The dates June 26, July 31 and Aug. 28. HOW CAN WE BE SERVANT LEADERS LIKE JESUS? Come, be reminded of our real identity – in Christ!, talk about what exactly a “Christ-like Servant Leader” is, and explore how this could begin to change the look of our homes, workplaces, and community. Learn how we can live out our faith, no matter our background or circumstance, and hear from people who have already begun this intentional journey. Thursday, June 23, 6:30*-8:30 pm, Church Lounge. *Deli foods available starting at 6 p.m., free-will offering. PLEASE sign up at the Welcome Center or email [email protected] for food count. Our Restore sales (in Mt. Clemens and Warren) provide operating funds and overhead, and help us assist more families. We partner as they build or renovate their homes, then they purchase them from us at no profit, with a zero-interest mortgage provided by Macomb Habitat. We will pick up items in good condition from the first floor of your house or garage and take them to the ReStore at no cost. No clothing, please. At pick up you will receive an itemized tax donation receipt. Contact the ReStore for a pickup at (586) 263-1540 ext. 100, or [email protected]. Shop our stores Monday-Friday, 10-6 or Saturday, 10-5.

LIFETREE CAFÉ— Lifetree is well designed to be a comfortable God space for you to bring a friend who might be interested in or blessed by a given topic. While the group typically meets at Gumbo’s in Mt. Clemens, the last two sessions in May will be held in Trinity’s Church Lounge.

June 12—Political Correctness—Where do you draw the line?

June 19—Tell me the Real story

June 26—Why do good men go bad? —Temptation INTERSTED IN SERVING A MISSION?—If you have considered serving in a church mission, consider Family of God. Trinity has been a supporter of Family of God in Detroit for many years. Family of God is making an impact in many people’s lives by bringing the Good News of Christ to those who are poor, hungry, and homeless. We help by serving dinners at Family of God one Wednesday a month. Our Men’s Bible Study and Lifetree Café coordinate the dinners on alternating months. Our upcoming schedule for serving dates is: June 22, July 13 and August 24. If you would like to be a part of this by contributing a casserole dish that would feed approximately 20 people, desserts like cookies or cupcakes, a monetary contribution or a time contribution i.e. helping to cook and/or serve please contact Brian Lanko at 586-350-0444 or email [email protected] or Pam Jones at 586-790-2004 or email [email protected]. The mission is always in need of paper products, hygiene products and diapers of all sizes. QUILTERS WANTED—The Trinity Quilters for Lutheran World Relief meet the third Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Community Center. Upcoming meetings include June 21, July 19, Aug. 16, Sept. 20, Oct. 18, and Nov. 15. Bring a brown bag lunch. LAST BOTTLE/CAN RECYCLING JUNE 25/26—Trinity’s Groundwork Guatemala mission team is collecting returnable cans and bottles to purchase supplies. Just bag them up and team members will collect them from your car along the sidewalk between the church and the Community Center before and after services. If you prefer to do your own returns, we accept your proceeds or returnable slips. A list of needs is available on the bulletin board in the church foyer. If you have any questions, contact Sally Buss at [email protected]. STOCK THE SHELVES—On the first Saturday/Sunday of each month, the Food Pantry volunteers will be collecting donations outside the church entrances. The food pantry needs shampoo, dish soap, laundry soap, deodorant, soap, boxed potatoes, pancake mix, syrup and canned fruit. Donations can also be left in the hallway near the nursery or the Church Office.

>SCHOOL AND EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER STATE TRACK MEET RESULTS—The Lutheran School state track meet was held on Saturday, June

to the students who placed in there events, including

Marisa Grant who placed 3rd in the Long Jump; Frank Schneider who placed 4th in the 1600

meter; and Evan Smith who placed 7th in the High Jump.

CAMPBELL LABEL PROGRAM ENDS—We have some sad news. In the past few years participation

in Labels for Education® has declined and as a result, Campbell has come to the very difficult

decision to wind down the Labels for Education program. The good news is nothing changes this

program year so all labels that have been submitted will be credited to our account. Please

continue to collect Box Tops for Education labels over the summer. That program helps fund

school activities and purchases.

BAND INSTRUMENTS WANTED—Trinity school would like to have as many band instruments on

hand as possible for students use. Trinity owns a few instruments, but most of our families rent

instruments each year. If you have any instruments not being used, please consider donating

them. Ask other family members and friends as well. Drop off unneeded instruments in the

school office. Call the office at 586-468-8511 if you have any questions.

>ANNOUNCEMENTS PORTALS OF PRAYER—There are copies of the current Portals of Prayer available at the Welcome Center. WIFI is available in our building.
