>ENGAGE GOD SERMON SERIES: First Things First. . .As we begin a new year many people are examining their lives, making resolu-tions, and re-thinking their priorities. Jesus once said, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10) If we’re seeking the “full life” that Jesus spoke about then we need to put “first things first.” In this series we’re going to talk about “what” the “first thing” is, “why” it matters and “how” we get there. ATTENTION PARENTS OF 5TH GRADERS—[or 6th, 7th & 8th] - our spiritual lives are often equated with a journey. Along the way, there are stepping stones that function as an anchor in a maddening sea of change. One of these faith stepping stones is Holy Communion. Parents and students are invited to the spring session of the Holy Communion Faith Stepping Stone. This four-week class begins in February on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Youth Lounge. Questions - Contact PB at [email protected]. DO YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN? The church nursery is open and staffed at all church services by licenses professionals for children age three and under. For more information, contact Jeremy Ashley at [email protected]. Explore what kind of news is good to a culture that thinks it has rejected the Christian version. Come discover effective ways to share God's grace with others in a jaded society that is often hostile to the church. Starts Sunday, Feb. 21at 9:30 a.m. Leader: David Brown. Location: Church Lounge MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – “How to Be a Christian Without Being Religious” True Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. It’s not about us reaching up; it’s all about God reaching down to us. This is a Bible study based on the Book of Romans. Continues on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Leader: Lila Tirsell. Location: Rooms 4-5. NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – “Leaving Guilt Behind” Are you troubled by a nag-ging sense of guilt? Are you struggling with accepting and appropriating God’s gift of forgiveness through Jesus Christ? NEW MEN’S BIBLE STUDY – “A MAN AND HIS STORY” – This video series provides men with a biblical perspective of their “story.” It equips guys to embrace how their

past has affected their present and prepares them for the future may. Continues Wednesday, 6–7 a.m. $15 book donation. Location: Church Lounge. NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – “THE FAMILY OF JESUS” This title, written by Karen Kingsbury, brings biblical characters to life: Joseph-The Protective Father; Zechariah-The Knowing Uncle; John the Baptist-The Chosen Cousin; Elizabeth-The Faithful Aunt; James-The Doubting Brother and Mary-The Loving Mother. Resumes Monday, 7 p.m. Location: Chapel. Leader: Bonnie Young. LIVING YOUR STRENGTHS is an opportunity to uncover and celebrate who God designed you to be. Your talents play out in all your relationships and all you do! Sessions run throughout the year. For info, contact Sue at [email protected] or 586-463-2921 x103. Following is 1 of 34 themes of talent and how it’s designed to bless: THE BLESSING OF THE STRATEGIC TALENT involves the way you think and gen-erate alternatives. When faced with a problem or dilemma you can quickly gen-erate multiple alternatives to circumvent obstacles that prevent your progress. Sometimes you think in a backwards manner by first visualizing the outcome you want to produce and then generating multiple alternative paths to get to that ob-jective. The blessing of your Strategic talent is that you can quickly sort through the various alternative paths and determine the one that will work best and most efficiently. How do you use your Strategic talent in service of God and others?
