Dear Parents,
Welcome back as we commence Term 4, I hope that all families have enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday. We wish our Grade 6 students all the very best as they enter their last term of Primary School. We already have a significant amount of events and activities planned. Please keep your eye on the date section of the newsletter to ensure that you do not miss anything.
Uniform
At our most recent Board Meeting at the end of last term the issue of students wearing incorrect uniform was tabled. We have a great uniform here at Trinity and it is an expectation that it is worn correctly. Summer uniform commences now that it is Term 4 and we will be focussing on ensuring that it is worn correctly. A reminder that we have a No Hat No Play policy.
Principals Meeting
On Monday all Principals from the Gippsland Catholic Primary Principals Association will be meeting here at Trinity. The motivation for the meeting being here is so the Principals can come and view our new learning areas and Discovery Centre.
Grandparents Day.
Grandparents Day is approaching fast; it will be on Friday 10th November. This is one of the highlights of the year at Trinity. As part of the liturgy, we would like to put together a power point of images of the student’s grandparents (or special friends) and would love every family to be represented. If you have any photos of your children with their grandparents, or just of their grandparents / special friends, could you please email them to [email protected] over the next two weeks? 2018 Planning
If your family situation is changing, we would appreciate you letting the Office know. An accurate indication of student numbers assists us enormously. We have a waiting list and if we know you are leaving we can offer your spot.
Attached to this newsletter is a copy of the new 2018 Fee Structure that was decided upon at the School Education Board Meeting and a list of key 2018 dates to this point.
School Closure Day
Thanks to all families for your cooperation with the School Closure Day on Monday. The staff enjoyed the opportunity to analyse our data to determine our areas of focus with the students.

The Victorian Curriculum Water Safety Certificate and Trinity Swimming Program
Swimming and Water Safety is a key component of The Victorian Curriculum Health and Physical Education learning outcomes. The Water Safety Certificate is a Victorian Government initiative that reflects the level of competency recommended by the swimming and water safety industry for primary school students. The Water Safety Certificate is designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills to enable them to safely enjoy water based activities in calm and shallow aquatic environments. The competencies focus on water safety, knowledge, rescue skills, survival sequences and the ability to swim a continuous distance.
Permission notes for Trinity Swimming Program will be sent home to parents when their child’s Swimming Program begins. It is important that students wear appropriate swimming attire for a school swimming event. Swimming caps will be provided by Paul Sadler Swimland. The table below lists the level, lesson focus, venue and dates for swimming in Term 4.
Staffing Updates
Mrs Sarah Reitwyk has informed us that she has accepted a position at St Thomas the Apostle for 2018. We wish her well in her new role. It is with pleasure that we can welcome Mrs Lisa Wans onto the staff for 2018. Lisa is a very experienced teacher who is currently teaching at St Joseph’s in Warragul. She is very excited about joining Trinity and I am sure that she will be made to feel welcome by all.
Due to a medical procedure Mrs Rima Darwish will be on leave until Week 6. Thanks to Lauren Dunning who will be teaching 3D in Rima’s absence. Danielle Davis is on Long Service Leave, her one day per week in 2S will be covered by Nicola Schultze teaching the extra day. We also welcome back Mrs Glenice Shortal from Long Service Leave.
I hope that all families had a very safe, relaxing and happy holiday.
Regards,
Simon Dell'Oro

The Feast of the Holy Rosary October 7th
October is the month dedicated to the rosary, since the feast of the Most Holy
Rosary is celebrated on October 7th.
How to Pray the Rosary The Holy Rosary is simply the Gospel in miniature. It is like walking through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus in the company of Mary who knew him best and loved him the most. The rosary owes its origin to St. Dominic. 1. Hold the cross of the Rosary in your right hand and bless yourself with the Cross, saying, "In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen." 2. Still holding the Cross, say, The "Apostles' Creed." 3. On the first large bead after the Cross, say the Our Father;
On the next three small beads, say the Hail Mary, for the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity; after the third Hail Mary, say "Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen." 4. Then announce the first mysteries. Recite the "Our Father" on the large bead, followed by 10 "Hail Mary's" on the smaller beads, then say, the "Glory Be" for each decade of the Rosary. There are five decades for each Mystery. 5. After the 5 Mysteries have been recited, then say the Hail, Holy Queen.

A REQUEST FROM THE CANTEEN!!
The lovely ladies in the Canteen have noticed that a large number of the cloth lunch bags are getting quite soiled. All food ordered is placed in paper bags before going into the cloth lunch bag however they are still finding left over food and rubbish in the bag from the previous week. For health reasons could you please check these bags regularly and remove any rubbish and wash when needed.
They are easy to wash, just remove the paper the order is written on and their name and throw it in the machine. Remember, you wouldn’t serve your dinner on a dirty plate!!!
Your help in keeping these lunch bags clean and hygienic would be greatly appreciated.

All parents/Guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop
off area until 3.30pm.
Please observe and supervise your children, as they play on the equipment.
Thank you for your co-operation
TRINITY CAR PARK ETIQUETTE For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all
drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. I f your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
THE GATES CLOSE AT 9.00am AND RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. Occasionally they might re-open slightly later due to school activities.
The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others.

Stewardship Reflections
“For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” - ROMANS 14:8 This is the essence of stewardship — everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts that God has given us, especially our very own lives. Pray to God daily, and ask Him how He wants you to use the gifts He has given you.
