TERM 2
WEEK 2
20th APRIL
2016
Dear Parents,
Today we enjoyed a wonderful Trinity Athletics Carnival. The weather was perfect and it
was great to see the students competing so well and enjoying themselves. The amazing
assistance we had from parents was really appreciated as the carnival could not have gone
ahead without your help. Congratulations to the Sports Captains on the way they
participated and led their teams. A special thanks to Catrina Charman and Nicole Cahill
for the effort they put into the preparation and organisation of the event. Well done to
READMAN/GREEN HOUSE who won. The official results are as follows:
1st place– Readman/Green House 1054
2nd place– Marian/Blue House 1018
3rd place– Joyce//Yellow House 988
4th place– Allen/Read House 976
The dynamic nature of families ensures that circumstances regularly change, and not
always for the better. In times of difficulty Trinity can be a great resource for families.
We can offer different types of support and might be able to point you in the right
direction regarding services that can assist. Most importantly, a change of circumstances
will impact on your child and at times they can react or behave differently to what is
normal. If we are aware of what is occurring we can help support your child and make
accommodations depending on the circumstance. At all times, good and bad, I encourage
you to keep the lines of communication open and strong between home and school so we
can work together to achieve the best result for your child. Please be aware that all
information is treated with the upmost respect and confidentiality.
Currently as a staff we are reviewing the way we conduct our home learning based on
current research. Our aim is to have a consistent approach amongst all grades regarding
what our home learning expectations are and how it is implemented. This will be a topic
of discussion at tomorrow night’s Education Board meeting to ensure we have parent
input into our review.
The Education Board will also provide feedback on our email protocols for
communication between families and staff. Shortly we will advertise staff emails so
parents have another avenue of communication with the school, however, we need to
ensure that effective protocols, that cover areas such as appropriate email times, response
time and content that should / should not be in emails, are clear and consistent. Please
remember that whilst we appreciate the convenience of emails our preferred method of
communication is a telephone call or face to face meeting.
On Friday we will be practicing a lockdown with the students so that we are fully
prepared if we ever needed to employ such a strategy. The students will be fully aware
that this is a drill so we do not cause any undue stress.
On Friday afternoon at 2.30pm we will be having a special Anzac Day assembly. Parents
are most welcome to attend. We thank Peter Bemes from Berwick RSL who will be
speaking to the students about the importance of Anzac Day. Peter has been involved
with the Royal Australian Navy and The Police Force, as well as various Peace Keeping
missions.

Choice Theory
At Trinity, we understand just how important it is for teachers to be Lead Managers. Every teacher is responsible for creating the conditions in their classroom, that allow the work or learning taking place, to appeal to the intrinsic motivation of their students. For this to happen it is essential that both the teacher and student understand the idea of MY JOB / YOUR JOB. One way teachers are exploring this, is through discussions with their students about what their job is and what it isn’t, in the classroom setting. This enables all involved to know exactly what is expected of them, creating effective learning behaviours where students feel empowered and in control of their own learning. This can also be applied to any setting in life and may even be something you may like to explore at home with your children.

PARISH PRIEST’S CORNER Dear Parishioners,
The recent parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land was all I could have hoped for – an opportunity to complete what is heard in the scriptures. Being in
the Holy Land certainly gives you a new perspective to see, understand and internalise the stories of the bible. Our Initial fears of travelling in a
land that is so often caught up in violence and dispute were put at ease. Our guides were local and competent they insured our safety and
provided information that was both spiritual and historical. The 14 day journey was a privilege that will provide lifelong fruit as we come down
from the mountain and continue God’s work of building his kingdom.
This weekend we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday a time to look at how loved we are by Christ who calls us by name and longs for our company.
Traditionally it has been a time to reflect on vocation to priesthood and religious life. One of our diocesan seminarians Confidence Masvosva will
be speaking to us this weekend about his personal call to priesthood. Confidence is one of six seminarians studying for the priesthood for our
diocese I know that you will make him welcome. You may recall Tao Pham who was so close to his diaconate ordination in our parish in 2011. Tao
became quite ill just prior to his ordination to the diaconate which prevented his ordination happening. However he has made a surprising recovery
and has been accepted to the priesthood by the Melbourne Archdiocese. He will be ordained a deacon on the 25th of June and to the priesthood
on the 10th September 2016. We wish him well.
This week some parishioner who were chosen randomly from the data base will receive a letter in regards to Alpha Pilot program. Alpha will be a
wonderful opportunity to build community in our parish. If you receive a letter please consider carefully as your attendance is vital for the growth
of our community. If you have not received a letter and are still interested please don’t hesitate to call the office to register your interest. I
would be delighted if you could attend this program you will not be disappointed. Fr. Brendan

tended sick leave.”
First Eucharist Enrolment and Parent only workshop
will be held on the Thursday 28th April 2016 at 7.30pm
in the church. Attendance is mandatory for those
parent/s who wish to prepare their child for the Sacra-
ment of Holy Eucharist this year.
PASTORAL CARE NEWSLETTER
20th APRIL 2016
We CONGRATULATE: Fiona Barnes who was received into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil Also her daughters Victoria(4t) and Matilda (2N) who
were Babtized at the Easter Vigil also.
WE PRAY FOR: Those parents undergoing treatment for Cancer; those awaiting the results of tests; those who
are expecting babies; for all our needs and the needs of our Families; for Harrison Family (Keegan 4N) who’s
uncle passed away and the builders working on the renovations to our school.
COMING EVENTS:
MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST: This will be held on the 6th May from 7.15-8.15 in the Hall. A little earlier
start than in other years because the Hall needs to be available for Phys. Ed. Lessons from 8.45am. So early to bed
on Thursday night for those who are attending. The breakfast will consist of croissants/toast, cheese, ham and
spreads. Chris, the coffee van man, is coming and there will be milo for the children. As you know from past
years for safety’s sake this event is only for primary school aged children. This year the school is part funding this
event, but I still need numbers for the catering, so you will find the information on a full sheet in this newsletter.
AND OF COURSE SOME DADS TO HELP PLEASE!
BIGGEST MORNING TEA : This will happen on Friday 13th May from drop-off in the morning (8.30am) until
11am in the Before/After School Care Room. This has been an annual event for the past four years to support this
very worthy cause. Many, if not all of us, have had family/friends who are presently living with cancer or who
have died from cancer. My own Mum, Jean, died in 2004 from bowel cancer and so I know from personal
experience the suffering and trauma involved for the sufferer and their family/friends. So if you can drop in for
five minutes after you have dropped off the children for a quick cuppa/or to just make a donation/or to stay for a
little longer you are most welcome. The entry donation is $ 3.00 per person (or more if you are able) and I’m
hoping to have plates of goodies for sale - I’m thinking of 6 small cakes/ slices/muffins/ scones on a plate for
$5.00 each so they need to be a decent size. ANYONE LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE AND HELP ME OUT BY
DOING A LITTLE BAKING FOR A GOOD CAUSE? I will also have some jams for sale and lucky dips for
$5.00.
On the Noticeboard Outside the multi purpose room:” “Don’t
worry, be happy: how kids bounce back”(an article by Clare Kermond); “Playing for high
stakes”( an article by Cosima Marriner) “Very Special Kids
Newsletter” All well worth the read.
A Word from Pope Francis: “EVERY Christian, and especially you and I, are called to be bearers of this
message of hope that gives serenity and joy. God’s consolation, God’s tenderness to all.”(page 121 A Year with
Pope Francis on the Family)
