At LinguaMites® we are pioneering preschool education in three languages (Chinese, English and isiZulu). We believe that it is a waste of your child’s potential to only be taught in one language, and through our small classes (max 10 per class) we offer a fun, loving and nurturing environment for children 2-5yrs (Grade 00). Research proves that children who grow up in more than one language function better socially, cognitively and developmentally. They out-perform children who speak only one language in memory, problem solving, creative thinking, and executive functioning. They are

also more culturally sensitive, confident and are more adaptable to new/changing environments. We believe our well researched and tested trilingual programme gives each child the best possible opportunities for the future.

Overview of the LinguaMites® Tri-lingual Programme

When it comes to language, we believe that daily exposure produces the best results, and that for language to be acquired, a necessity must be created in a fun, activity-based environment. There is no translation in our classes, teachers convey meaning through actions and demonstration in a full immersion programme. An environment is created through music, decoration, cultural events, food and customs to enhance the learning context. A lot of emphasis is placed on the cultures of three diverse people groups. Children enjoy learning through culturally relevant songs, games and stories, and are exposed to the appropriate etiquette, table manners and customs. In this way they gain a unique identity within the culture

and a deep understanding of the people that actually speak the language in everyday life.

Each lead teacher in the class is a native speaker and qualified educator with years of experience in various teaching settings. Each of our classes (ChinaMites®, ZuluMites®and AngloMites®) follow weekly class themes relevant to the specific culture of the class. Children are largely separated according to their age and placed in small classes (maximum 10 per class) where individual interests and needs are met, and appropriate social skills within a group setting are encouraged.

Every class maintains the same routine every day to provide consistency and predictability to the scheduled activities.

School fees

APPLICATION FEE R2,500.00/child

All fees include:

• Multilingual education in a safe, loving, structured environment, maximum 10 per class

• Written reports on the educational and language development of your child 2x per year.

• Healthy mid-morning snacks (fruit and biscuits).

• Any activities during school time are included in your fees.

The school does not provide breakfast or lunch, and packed lunches must be sent in from home each day.

4 Days/week 5 Days/week

R85 per month is charged in addition to school fees for events, shows and exhibitions run during the school year.

5% discount for annual fees paid before the end of December 2018.

Additional Costs

Transport

LinguaMites® provides families with a safe and reliable in-house transport service both ways for distances within a 10km radius of the school. Charged at a flat rate of R1200 per child/month (payable 11mo of the year), the service is available for morning, half day and aftercare drop off times. Ad-hoc transport is charged at R100 per day/child, subject to availability.

Aftercare

Aftercare is charged at R570/child per month and is for children staying after 12h30. Children at aftercare are encouraged to nap until 14h00, and will be allowed to have free play time until the latest 15h30. Ad-hoc aftercare service is charged at R70/day. Additional snack provided. Available for a minimum of 5 children. There is no aftercare provided after 15h30.

LinguaMites runs on 2 terms/year with a 3 week break in between, the school also takes all National Public and declared School Holidays. Refer to school calendar for more details.

Terms and Conditions

• School fees are payable 12 months of the year.

• Payments for January required on/before the 20th December 2016.

• One CALENDAR month written notice must be given to un-enrol at the school.

Official Class time 08:30-12h30. Drop off from 07:00, latest collection 12h30 for half day or 15h30 for aftercare.
