The older the child, the more he or she is allowed to play with the tablet or smartphone. Especially related to the smartphone!

Most used tablet for kids to play with is the iPad or iPad 2. Runner up: smartphone different then an iPhone!


Increasingly children are gaining access to their own device:

•52% of children own their own app capable device (68% of 6-8, 32% of 3-5)•8% of the children own their own iPhone (11% other app smartphones)•20% have an iPod Touch (12% of 3-5 year olds)•9% have their own iPad (6% of the 3-5 year olds)

Specific Apple:

•iPad is considered the must have item for 6-12 year olds. •Age of owning an ipad is going down due to the the lifecycle of the iPad. (ipad - ipad2 - ipad3 - ipad mini)•Apple is outselling most game console manufacturers. •Penetration under 3-12 years old is increasing with high numbers.


Within the age 4-6 years, the opinion of the parents determine the choice of the app. Parents are selecting the app if it’s good or educational. After 7 years old, the opinion of friends and classmates is determining the app choice.

75% of the parents are not downloading paid apps!

43% of the kids between 10-12 year are downloading the app by

themselves.

Number one activity on a smartphone or tablet: games & apps. Movies are runner up!

Number one app for all ages is Angry Birds. Runner up is ‘Where’s my Water’.
