With #15 blade Vertical incision through the most fluctuant part of the swelling, extending to an area just apical to the abscess.

With Curette or Periosteal elevator drain and remove Granulomatous tissue.Cont.Apply Gental pressure to drain remaining material and approximate Wound edges.Sutures are usually not required.Apply Antiseptics after Drainage stops.

Rinse with a solution of 1 tsp warm saline water and to return for follow-up the next day. Penicillin or other antibiotics are prescribed for patients with elevated temperatures. The patient is also instructed to avoid exertion and is placed on a copious fluid diet. Analgesics are prescribed for pain.Gingival AbscessThe gingival abscess is a lesion of the marginal or interdental gingiva, usually produced by an impacted foreign object.

TreatmentTopical and local infiltrative anesthesia. With a #15 blade and the incision is gently widened to permit drainage.Cont.The area is cleansed with warm water and covered with a gauze pad. After bleeding stops patient is dismissed for 24 hours.

Instructed to rinse every 2 hours with a glassful of warm water. When the patient returns, the lesion is generally reduced in size and free of symptoms. A topical anesthetic is applied, and the area is scaled. If the residual size of the lesion is too great, it is removed surgically.Chronic Periodonta AbscessAdequate drainageAntibiotic treatment, or both if the acute abscess becomes chronic.

Some cases have drained spontaneously and the patient is then diagnosed as having a chronic abscess. Further treatment is similar to that of a periodontal pocket.Periodontal Abscess vs Pulpal Abscess
