Transcript of Treasurer Newsletter January 2014
District Leadership Conference (DCON) is less than 2 months away! It is themed like a night at the
Oscars so I hope you all are helping your board with preparations for the conference. It should be a blast and I
cannot wait to see your WIUM spirit! DCON is a time for celebration and acknowledgement of accomplishments
and special achievements of your WIUM Key Club and individual Key Clubbers from around our District. Please
let us know about all you have accomplished through your MRFs and applying for the many club/member awards!
Also, remember to apply to be a Distinguished Club Secretary or Distinguished Club Treasurer! We would
love to honor you for all of your hard work over the past year! Your application (attached) must be postmarked by
Jan 27, 2014!

Hello WIUM Key Club
Secretaries and Treasurers!
Happy New Year! (I hope everyone is enjoying the snow
because in 2-3 months it will be gone! I have yet to get out on
my snowboard...)
The Distinguished Secretary Award is the highest recognition a club secretary can
receive at the District level. It is a great honor to receive this award as you have
demonstrated outstanding service to your club and are a true role model for those that
follow in your footsteps. These are the main criteria you need to have met: attended at
least 90% of the club meetings and board meetings held, all of your club MRF’s were
submitted by the 5th
of each month, prepared written minutes for all club and board
meetings, attended the Secretary’s Workshop at the District Leadership Conference
(DCON), submitted the New Officer Information Sheet within 30 days of election,
completed at least 50 hours of service, and completed the Secretary’s Training
Webshop, which can be found on the WIUM District website. You can review these
goals and additional criteria in the attached Distinguished Secretary Award application.
The Distinguished Treasurer Award is the highest recognition a club treasurer can
receive at the District level. This award is not given out often and as such, it is a serious
award given to honor those who demonstrate exemplary service to their clubs. To be
eligible for the award, you should attend at least 90% of your key club general meetings,
attend 90% of your clubs board meetings, track your clubs income and expenses, attend
the Treasurer’s Workshop at the District Leadership Conference (DCON), prepare
regular financial reports and present them at both general and board meetings as
requested, and submit one article for the Key to Caring WIUM newsletter. You should
have also completed 50 hours of service and completed the Treasurers Training
Webshop, which can be found on the WIUM District website. You can review these
goals and additional criteria in the attached Distinguished Treasurer Award application.
