District Leadership Conference (DCON) is less than 2 months away! It is themed like a night at the Oscars so I hope you all are helping your board with preparations for the conference. It should be a blast and I cannot wait to see your WIUM spirit! DCON is a time for celebration and acknowledgement of accomplishments and special achievements of your WIUM Key Club and individual Key Clubbers from around our District. Please let us know about all you have accomplished through your MRFs and applying for the many club/member awards! Also, remember to apply to be a Distinguished Club Secretary or Distinguished Club Treasurer! We would love to honor you for all of your hard work over the past year! Your application (attached) must be postmarked by Jan 27, 2014! Hello WIUM Key Club Secretaries and Treasurers! Happy New Year! (I hope everyone is enjoying the snow because in 2-3 months it will be gone! I have yet to get out on my snowboard...) The Distinguished Secretary Award is the highest recognition a club secretary can receive at the District level. It is a great honor to receive this award as you have demonstrated outstanding service to your club and are a true role model for those that follow in your footsteps. These are the main criteria you need to have met: attended at least 90% of the club meetings and board meetings held, all of your club MRF’s were submitted by the 5 th of each month, prepared written minutes for all club and board meetings, attended the Secretary’s Workshop at the District Leadership Conference (DCON), submitted the New Officer Information Sheet within 30 days of election, completed at least 50 hours of service, and completed t he Secretary’s Training Webshop, which can be found on the WIUM District website. You can review these goals and additional criteria in the attached Distinguished Secretary Award application. The Distinguished Treasurer Award is the highest recognition a club treasurer can receive at the District level. This award is not given out often and as such, it is a serious award given to honor those who demonstrate exemplary service to their clubs. To be eligible for the award, you should attend at least 90% of your key club general meetings, attend 90% of your clubs board meetings, track your clubs income and expenses, attend the Treasurer’s Workshop at the District Leadership Conference (DCON), prepare regular financial reports and present them at both general and board meetings as requested, and submit one article for the Key to Caring WIUM newsletter. You should have also completed 50 hours of service and completed the Treasurers Training Webshop, which can be found on the WIUM District website.
