need to carry more items than the past time. People carry different items

depending on where they go and what kinds of hobbies they have.

Cell Phone in the Corner PocketMICHELLE SLATALLA The Rifle Team Pants are signs of an era in which electronic gadgetry has moved from accessory to necessity. Gone are the days when the things that went into pockets -- the pen, the wallet, the lowly pocket protector -- were as humble as the pocket itself. Today’s digital accessories are bulky and self-important. And why not? After all, they are essential tools, communications lifelines to a pants wearer’s office or home. So it’s up to pockets to conform. From the “lightweight, knee-length summer topper,” as it is called at the upscale Barneys clothing store in Manhattan (translation: a jacket, and it sells for $396 at the store) to Equipment for Legs, a new line of pants from the more egalitarian-priced Dockers, pockets are being resized, refitted and rethought to accommodate the sprawling collection of personal electronic devices. The reason is simple. “As much as human beings like to look good, we like convenience as well,” said Christina Lindholm, chairwoman of the department of fashion design and merchandising at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

People want to protect their devices so they buy cases for them but they do not want to spend a lot of money. Also people care about weight of cases because they need to carry around. The article said that the device cases became part of fashion so people want to have fancy style of cases with high quality of protection.

OBSERVATION

Travelers like to carry backpack or cross bag,and it is a regular bag for daily life. People use what they have and just care about size of bag. Family travelers have backpack more than small cross bag. Many women have a handbag or a mini cross bag and care about style. People who are from other countries, use paper map more than cellphone or ipad map.

CONCEPT OF IDEA

People like to use their pockets to keep important items like money because it is easy to access and provides security. Travelers care about the security of their items. There are many kinds of hidden pockets for travelers, but it is not visually appealing and very uncomfortable so people do not want to use them.

I want to design travel wear with a beautiful functional pocket.
