We appreciate that everyone will have a different journey; the following is to assist you to plan ahead: A diversion is in place for access to Pipers Row directly from Bilston Street. Vehicles wishing to access Pipers Row from the right-hand turn on Bilston Street will need to follow the diversion via St. George’s Parade and Garrick Street, before turning left into Pipers Row. This diversion will be in place until signals are installed at the junction shortly. Pedestrian access is being maintained at all times. However, as it is a live work site, pedestrian routes may change periodically as the work progresses. We recommend that you allow extra time, use real-time information to plan your trip, use public transport if you can and consider re-timing your journey, if possible. WOLVERHAMPTON

Enjoy Wolverhampton! The football season has begun again and if you’re not lucky enough to have tickets to a home game at Molineux there’s plenty of places across the city where you can follow the progress of Wolves as they begin their second year in the top flight of UK football, including The Prince Albert.

You can learn more about how match days are celebrated at the Prince Albert in the following video. https://vimeo.com/332613635

If sport isn’t your thing, then you can always visitwww.enjoywolverhampton.com to see what’s going on across the city.

Award trophies were presented in categories including Best Design, Best Planned and Most Sustainable. The overall winners won a trip to Alton Towers, provided by Midland Metro Alliance partner, Colas Rail UK.

The overall prize in the year 10 group went to a team called Wolverhampton Tram Network, who impressed the judges with their extensive route design, while the year 12 prize went to JAQ Rail for showing a particular interest in safety.

Night Guardian Pilot Extended in the cityLate last month, Wolverhampton BID announced the extension of the successful Night Guardian scheme, which has seen two staff members employed to support the city’s evening economy.

The scheme, which originally launched in May, has been extended by a further three months by Wolverhampton BID and the City of Wolverhampton Council, following positive feedback from a range of pubs and businesses. The extended scheme provides visitors with enhanced information, additional security and a reassuring presence during the city’s busy months.

The service will complement the existing multi-partner team who operate throughout the night-time in the city centre provided by West Midlands Police, Mander Centre CCTV, Wolverhampton Street Pastors and the successful Late-Night Safe Haven provided by Wolverhampton BID and the City of Wolverhampton Council.

Speaking about the scheme BID Director Cherry Shine said “The four week trial of the Night Guardians was an incredible success. We have listened to businesses who fed back to us on how they benefitted from the scheme and welcomed the service and in partnership with the City of Wolverhampton Council the Night Guardians will operate at weekends throughout the summer. With our vibrant and lively nighttime economy with a large number of pubs, bars restaurants and venues, the Night Guardians really make sure that all visitors to our city’s night life are welcomed and that the venues are connected by a dedicated, and responsive evening team.”

Students get future careers on trackStudents from a Wolverhampton school got a chance to design their very own Metro extension when they took part in a construction project led by graduates at the Midland Metro Alliance.

The year 10 and 12 pupils of West Midlands University Technical College (WMUTC) demonstrated their technical and design skills during the ten-week programme, which culminated with presentations and exhibitions of their work.
