I have had some time to walk the Park and have noticed a great number of property owners who have obstructed the swales behind their property. While it is nice that property owners want to improve their prop- erty, it is a potential nightmare for them and their neighbors, because when we receive a typical tropical storm the amount of water that comes will wash their obstruction down the swale and block the water’s ability to reach the disposal point and back up and cause flooding into your house and your neighbor’s house as well. If you can prevent a problem, wouldn’t it make sense to do so? Please take the time to read the article in the Tribune on swales and take the appropriate action. While the hurricane season may be wrapping down, please keep in mind that hurricanes can still occur well into November, so please keep aware of changing weather conditions. Please listen to local radio and television networks and not National news when it comes to hurricanes conditions. I would also like to welcome residents who are returning back to the Park and hope they are ready for the upcoming season. Seasonal Recreation By Gail Opper Summer is over. How can that be? I am back in Florida after one of the best summers I’ve had in a very long time. I hope you can say the same. The wonderful 2019-2020 seasonal recreation activities await us all and begin with our first dance on Saturday, November 9. Patsy and Majella join us that night. Unfortunately, the dance schedule, totally filled when I left Florida in April, has faced some snags over the summer. The wonderful new band we all enjoyed during our final dance in the spring signed a contract with us for several dances. Sadly, I received a phone call from them in August letting me know that they have disbanded due to the potentially terminal illness of the daughter of the leader, who had to relocate to Arizona to be with her. Things happen, and our hearts go out to Ron Story at this difficult time. I have replaced that band. A one-time special evening band planned for March 14, 2020 has also been changed. The “Doo Shots” had verbally agreed to be with us that night; however, they never signed our contract and did not return any of my phone calls. So, that date remains open at the moment. A reminder: There will be no dance on November 30 (because of Thanksgiving) or December 21 & 28 (due to Christmas). The annual TE Christmas Party is December 14 and the New Year’s Party is December 31. Get your dancing shoes on and join us for a wonderful dance season. January begins our many instructor-led classes as well as our Showtimes. I know you’ll enjoy the talented entertainers sched- uled for Showtime. Also, look forward to a return of Vegas Night on March 19. I have two new ideas for the upcoming season, but I need your opinion. I have been hearing about very successful events called “Adult Recess”. The events take us back to the fun times of our childhood and include playing Dodgeball, Tetherball, Kickball, and others. We could try this at the TEN property on a Sunday afternoon in January. Another idea: I’d like to begin honoring anniversaries at the first dance of every month from November through April. Both possibilities need your opinions and ideas. I’m waiting to hear from you! Happy Halloween

Page 2 - Trailer Estates Tribune - October 2019

Basic Marina Information The marina is very limited on longer size slips. If you are going to buy a boat that is over 19 feet long, PLEASE, call the Dock master to see if we have a slip available. The Dock master has had to disappoint several people by telling them we had no place for them to dock their new boat. Boats will only be rented slips that they fit in. For instance, if you have a boat that fits in a 28 foot slip, you will not be able to rent a 30ft slip, if your boat fits in a 22ft slip, you will not able to rent a 26ft slip. The larger slips are for larger boats. Boats are measured from the farthest thing that sticks out on the bow, to the motor in full tilt. We do not measure your boat by what it says on the registration. If you are buying a party boat, deck boat or pontoon boat, please watch the size of the beam (width) of the boat you buy. These newer, wider, boats have a hard time fitting in many of the slips without touching the sides of the decking. Please buy a boat that will give you room, on each side, to adjust with the ebb and flow of the tide. The Dock master is a volunteer who lives here in TE. This volunteer position helps to keep the marina costs down. The Dock master DOES NOT get any benefits from being the Dock master other than the satisfaction of helping the community. The Dock master pays the same marina fees as you pay. Paula works full time, 12 hour shifts. She is usually available 2-4 days a week depending on her schedule. Her voice mail is frequently updated and will tell you the soonest she can meet, if she does not answer. Please do not call the office, they cannot change Paula’s work schedule nor can they rent you a slip. Please be patient. Paula’s number is 941-545-4255.

Charter Communications. Programming may vary. Channels, Tiers and Packaging subject to change. Services not available in all areas. Charter issued digital receiver or CableCARD required to view programming channels, except for Basic Service viewable with customer owned TV equipped with digital QAM Tuner subject to future service changes when a market transitions to All Digital. Charter issued digital receiver required to view PPV and On Demand programming (where available). HD capable equipment required to view HD programming (where available). All programming may not be available to CableCARD or Digital Terminal Adapter customers. All service levels may contain channels with some R-rated programming, which can be blocked using the Parental Control feature on your on-screen program guide.

In a switched digital market, due to system technology enhancements access to certain digital channels will require a digital receiver, as HDTVs & digital QAM tuners equipped with CableCARDs or TV's equipped with Digital Terminal Adapter's cannot access certain digital channels requiring two-way communication (e.g., PPV & On Demand programming). CableCARD customers with TiVo equipment will also need a Tuning Adapter for access to such digital channels.

SAP - Second Audio Programming (Spanish Language when available) is offered on analog Basic Service & Expanded Service channels. Check your interactive program guide for further details. Channel numbers listed are for either analog cable-ready TV sets or Charter digital receivers. Customers using a QAM tuner TV or other personal QAM tuner device, not connected to a digital receiver, must activate the Auto Program feature, as described in the TV/device's Owner's Manual, to receive some digital services.

Note from your Health & Welfare Trustee:

helP! I need a complete list of everyone who has passed away this year. Please contact me at 309-941-6128 or at P.O. Box 5619, Bra-denton, FL 34281. Thank you for this help Sandra Simonich Health & Safety Comm.

Permits If you make any changes to the outside of your mobile, you must get a permit. This is for repairs or new work to the outside. Changes or additions to your mobile include doors, stairs, pav-ers, A/C, sheds, etc. The office will give you a blank permit to fill out or they can answer any questions you might have. The ARC (Architectural Review Committee) will review it in a couple of days and approve it or deny it. They will call you when approved. The approved permit, and the orange card to be display in your window, can be picked up in the office once they approved it, permits are good for 6 months and only for the one item listed on the permit. Thank you for your help in this matter.

CERTWhen in doubt, check us out

TE CERT is our name, helping is our game. We are neighbors helping neighbors.  So, do yourselves a favor, come to a TE CERT meeting and be prepared for our greeting.  We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the small hall at 10am. Members are certified in CPR, basic first aid, AED and we have disaster training. TE CERT is here to assist all other emergency response teams in Manatee County. In case of a disaster, our emergency equipment trailer is ready to go. TE CERT deploys when it is safe to go to our assigned zones in Trailer Estates. We are looking for injuries, resident’s property damage for those who have given permission to CERT to check their property and then we will personally notify them of any damage. If you’re registered with TE CERT and you don’t get a call that means we didn’t find any visible outside damage, down power lines. Those deployed report by 2-way radio to TE CERT central command who then reports to Manatee County EMC. We are currently looking for ham radio operators and new members. There is a training course coming up in September for new membership to CERT given by Manatee County EMC. If you are interested in taking the training contact the e-mail below for further information.  What a great reward for helping your fellow neighbor. By the way, the training is free. Also mark your calendar for January 15th for a class TE CERT will be offering to all TE residents that will be put on by the Flor-ida Department of Health of Manatee County called “Stop the Bleeding”. More information for how to sign up will be closer to the date.

clubs & organizationsTrailer Estates Horseshoe Club The Trailer Estates Horseshoe Club officially invites you to join us for fun and friendly competition. We meet at the T.E. horseshoe pits at the corner of Bay and Park Lane every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:30 am (some arrive at 8:00 as they just can’t wait to play). In September through December we practice and compete against ourselves as people return from their Northern retreats. Starting in January of each year we compete against our sister park (Tri-Par), and Horseshoe Cove for tournaments. Last season the AMI horseshoe club was added to our tournament schedule. Much fun was had as our club went 5-1 against the other clubs and came in second at our annual 3-way tournament. In addition to our tournaments, we have a lunch outing at The Anna Maria Oyster Bar (our team sponsor) and a great end of the year picnic/party at T.E. No equipment or experience is necessary. Our club is open to both men and women, although we don’t have any women that participate on a regular basis. Tri-Par has an all-women’s team and several women that compete with us. We would love to expand our roster. Why not try something new or hone your skills with a great group of people at the horseshoe pits this season? No worries if you can’t make every time we play or have other commitments, just show up when you can play. If you would like to join (annual dues are just $10.00) or just have an interest, please stop by the pits or contact Tim Kirkpatrick at (607) 342-6729.

Scavenger Hunt Kick Off Party November 11, 2019 2 PM. Fun Gathering with a game or two at TE for residents and friends to kick off this year’s Trailer Estates’ art and whimsy scavenger hunt. Have you noticed recently how fun TE residents are with our art and whimsy? How much have you seen in this neighborhood? These spark joy and smiles for me, how about you? Pictures are printed on postcards for search. Walk with a friend, ride bikes or golf carts as items found return postcard for next level. Final party on January 11, 2019. Simple prizes and games for all participants and extravagant prize for first couple to complete scavenger hunt. $5 per couple collected at kickoff party to help with incidental costs.

October, 2019 - Shuffleboard News Welcome back to Trailer Estates to all those who have returned this month. The busy winter season will soon be here and the Shuffle Board club will be ready. Club President, Cindy Slaughterbeck and her executive have a full season planned and will be “good to go” as soon as appropri-ate. If you were at TE in April of this year you will have noticed that 8 of our 32 courts were machine sanded by an outside contractor and left in paint ready condition for completion this Fall. During late October or early November our plan is to paint, line and wax these 8 courts and get them back into play. The remaining courts (24) should be ready to go by mid to late October or as soon as club member Tom Putnam and crew can get to them. Speaking of Tom Putnam. He deserves special mention for his great play during the 2018-2019 tournament campaign. He finished the STATE competitions in the top 8 which qualified him to play in the STATE MASTERS. As you can imagine, this is no easy feat. If memory serves me correctly, he finished 4th in the State Masters Tournament held in April, 2019. Well done, Tom! Please continue to read this monthly Tribune column as there will be lots to talk about as the season progresses. Have a great winter at T. E.

clubs & organizationsVeterans Club of TE The American Legion, the largest Veterans organization in the country, has changed its membership eligibility. If you have con-sidered joining and were not eligible, you may now be eligible. President Trump, on July 30, 2019 signed the Legion Act. LEGION is the acronym for Let Everyone Get Involved in Opportunities for National Service. Bayshore Post 317 is the closest American Legion post to TE. Bayshore Post 317 Commander Dottie Deerwester announced post meetings will be held in the Pelican Room, Activity Building in September, October, and November 2019. Meetings are normally held at the Bayshore Gardens Park & Recreation District located off 26th Street. Due to building renovations currently underway, TE Veterans Club will host these meetings. Membership eligibility includes anyone who has served in the US military and honorably discharged, and spouse, children, grandchildren and parents of a Veteran. If you have a motorcycle and are eligible for membership (male & female) in the Legion, Auxiliary, or SONS, we can form a Legion Riders chapter. We encourage you to check us out. Please attend our meeting on Saturday, September 7th at 9:30am at the Pelican Room. For questions or comments, contact Post 317 at 941-281-5007, email at [email protected] or call or text Commander Dottie at 707-972-5055.

Trailer Estates Park and Recreation District provides for the reg-ular pickup of household garbage, excluding yard waste. Check the District bulletin boards for the current day and time schedule. The intent of the dumpsters are to provide residents the abil-ity to dispose of household solid waste such as furniture, small self-completed interior/exterior construction jobs, and other solid waste items. Dumpsters are available for the exclusive use of Trailer Estates Park and Recreation District residents. Outside contractors doing work for TE residents are not allowed to use dumpsters. Tree trimming and yard maintenance is exempt from this policy. Separate dumpsters for solid waste, yard waste, and comingled recycling are located in the trailer storage yard. Gates are locked and are accessible using your facilities’ fob. Outside contractors, including the various contractors located within TE, hired to renovate a resident’s home must provide their own private dumpster. The contractor’s dumpster must be placed at the job site, so it does not block road traffic. Renovations to resident’s home also include pavers, concrete removal and heavy debris. Residents who are not physically located in TE during the time of renovation must provide the Maintenance Foremen with a letter identifying the contractor and authorizing the placement of a dumpster to conduct the renovations. It is a violation of District rule for persons to do the following actions:1) placing items in a dumpster that has been identified as being

filled to capacity or marked with a sign stating “No More Dumping Today”

2) placing items in a dumpster that exceed the height of the dumpster

3) placing items in the incorrected dumpster (i.e. solid waste in the yard waste dumpster, placing solid waste in the recycling dumpster)

4) placing solid waste, yard waste, plastic bags, Styrofoam or glass other than bottles/jars in the recycling

5) placing items on the grounds around or outside of the dump-ster area

6) placing of appliances (e.g. refrigerators ovens, air conditioning untis) or electronics (e.g. televisions, computers) in the dump-sters or on the grounds around or outside of the dumpster area

7) placing hazardous materials (including flammables, oils, batteries, chemicals, etc.) in the dumpsters or on the grounds around or outside of the dumpster area

8) allowing a contractor, including tree trimers, paver installers and renovators access to a dumpster.

The dumpster area is under video surveillance. Offenders face the actual cost for alleviating such issues plus an administrative fee of 25% of the actual cost per offense. It should be noted the actual cost could include medical expenses incurred by the main-tenance staff while alleviating the issue. Repeat offenders may also be scheduled for a public hearing as described in the Rules and Regulations Part E: Penalties. Egregious violations such the placing of excessive amounts (i.e. an entire demolished home) will be dealt with on an individual basis that may include the cost of the dumpster dump in addition to those costs identified above.
