Trailer Analyse

The audience know this is a theatrical trailer due to the short-takes to show different parts of the movie, the non-diegetic sound and the sound bridge that's being applied to create suspense and tension. These’s are common convections which lets the audiences know they are watching a theatrical trailer.

The editing and sound creates a sense of narrative. The editing uses clips of different part of the movie, whiles applying a voice over from one of the character “Joker” creating the sense that he is referring to those that are in the clips, giving those clips meaning, that they play a big part of the movie , aswell as the protagonist (bruce wayne) . The clips are short take which last about 4 seconds and then fades out at the beginning of the theatrical trailer, but as the trailer progresses, the clips become shorter, the music gets more dramatic . T

The dark knight is a hybrid of genres. The genre signifiers that this film is an crime, thriller, superhero, action, drama, is the mise-en-scene. As most scenes have dark lighting, that signifiers that it is an thriller and the fast paced action and hard core blasts of energy and weapons suggest it is also an action. Crime is signified as their character, that are going against the law, and those that enforce it.

Intertexutal reference

What the audience learn about the actors, directors, producers of the film and are there any intertextual reference .

Their is intertextual reference as the dark knight seems to be inspired by A tale of two cities.

and the tale of two cities. As Sydney carton is prepared to make ultimate sacrifice for his loved one and his city which is the one batman makes. I the end of the novel carton switches place with the character named “Charles” for execution which batman also does for the sake of Gotham, (but it isn't a execution, instead convicted of murder of a fallen hero) .

What the audience learn about the producers of this film is that they put a lot of work and time into this film, due to the amount of action and stunts that was pull off during the trailer. This gives an idea that this film will be one of its kind (blockbuster).

Analyse the visual style and editing of the trailer- that you think are really effective and inspirational and analyse them

This is one of the section that I think is really effective and inspirational. The reason I feel like this, is due to the tracking shot that follows him in the first scene and the diegetic sound of the evil laugh(ha, ha) , which shows that he plays antagonist, in this movie. Another reason why this scene is inspiration is that it is a wide angle shot of all the other villains on the side of the table, while looking at the antagonist in the middle, with his back to the camera. which demonstrates the power structure of the antagonist.

This scene is effective, due to the fact that the protagonist is looking shameful while staring at his mask while leaving his attachments to his suit on the floor , . Which shows a construct of who he is as a person and who he is behind the mask. That what he does with the mask on, can not effective him as a person. The mise-en-scene also shows his isolation, the dark , navy blue lights and the shadows of the building, suggest his sorrow and sadness. And the fact that he is sitting on a chair, in a very big room also gives the impression of his desolation. That’s why this is very effective.

Comparing trailer to film poster

Page 8: Trailer analyse

How does it link with the film trailer?

This poster links with the trailer as the protagonist is on the front cover. Also the building is being burnt down, Which on the trailer buildings are also being exploded. Which this suggest this, there will be large bust of energy. Another thing which is similar, is that there is a building in both. is that in the beginning of the trailer the protagonist is on top of a building and in this poster, he is front of the building.

Another way this links with the trailer is that the colour palette of this does match the visual style of the trailer, that the use of dark colours or shadows are often seen in the trailer, such as grey, dark blue or elements of these.

I would say this is a teaser poster, due to the fact that not much is being given out. The only thing that is presented is the protagonist and the building which contains his logo in that is fames (of a bat) and lots of smoke in the air. Other than that there is no other character’s and not much going on. Which is convention of a teaser that it doesn’t give away to much. Unfortunately there isn't a tagline for this particular trailer

How does it link with the film trailer?-Part 2

The front that is that is used does synergise with the trailer, the reason for is the font it is bold, and stands out. which has a contrast of the protagonist , that he doesn’t stand out and as his costume/suit is black, also on the logo behind the title suggest this..
