town near London and he hasn't got anyfriends. The workhouse is a bad place to livebecause it is very cold and dark.There are a lot of orphans in the workhouseand they don't receive a lot of food. All theorphans are sad and hungry. They haveporridge every day for breakfast, lunch anddinner. They don't like porridge but one daythey are very hungry so they want Oliver toask for more porridge.'We are hungry, Oliver,' they say. 'You must
