Here’s your Summer 365 setlist for making all your camp visits a smash hit.

LET’S GET IT STARTED

Put a little prep in your step. Preparation is the key to any successful camp visit. After all, websites, brochures, and

videos will only get you so far. To get a real sense of everything a camp has to offer—including its people—

you gotta hit the road and experience it for yourself.

SWEET CHILD O’ MINE

Bring your future camper onboard. The opportunity to experience what a sleepaway camp is all about is sure to be a real eye opener. They’ll see firsthand where they’ll eat and

sleep, plus get a real-life look at the camp’s culture, philosophy, and activities in action. This is truly magic.

As excitement builds, uncertainty disappears.

SLOW RIDE

Pace yourself. Touring a camp generally takes a couple hours. One of the biggest mistakes you

can make is trying to do too much in too little time. Start by narrowing down the amount of

camps you would like to visit in one trip. Four is a good number. Now let’s make it count.

CAMP AHEAD

JUMP AROUND

Based on location, plan on touring one camp in the morning and then another in the afternoon. At

night, get some Zzzzz and get ready to jump up and do it again. This trip should have parents and

children are overjoyed. Not overwhelmed.**First timers, consider the rookie experience: a day or overnight to give prospective campers a taste of camp. We only recommend doing one at a camp that is your frontrunner. Not to worry if you don’t have one,by doing just the regular tours you’ll be able to compare each one equally.

BRING ON THE NIGHT

If you plan to stay overnight, make your hotel reservation early. Not only will you likely get a

better rate, you’ll also be assured a bed and not a sleeping bag. So book it. Book it real good.

THE LEADER OF THE PACK

Comfy shoes? Check! Sunscreen? Absolutely. Snacks? You bet! Start making a list, so that

the only thing you end up leaving behind is your worries. Bring a notebook and make sure your

phone or camera is charged up and free of space. When return home, those photos and videos will

certainly come in handy during the review process.

ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY

Before you hit the road, make sure you have all the right addresses and load them in your GPS

device. Remember, your favorite navigational app (like Waze) is only as good as your signal, so

consider printing your directions from Google Maps as a backup.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD

Who? What? Where? When? Come prepared with a list of questions to ask your tour guides and camp directors. Need a

BABY HOLD ON

It’s a difficult choice, but if you have the option, consider leaving your little ones with loved ones while

you travel. For toddlers, the days can be long and tiring. For younger siblings—those soon-to-be

campers—by all means, bring them along for the ride. They’re one step closer to having the best summer

ever with their older brother or sister.
