He is lookingOut the window

At somebodyComing in

Tom´s Diner

Says the manBehind the counter

To the womanWho has come in

She is shakingHer umbrella

And I lookThe other way

As they are kissingTheir hellos

I'm pretendingNot to see them

InsteadI pour the milk

I openUp the paper

There's a storyOf an actor

Who had diedWhile he was drinking

It was no oneI had heard of

And I'm turningTo the horoscope

And lookingFor the funnies

When I'm feelingSomeone watching me

And soI raise my head

There's a womanOn the outsideLooking inside

Does she see me?

No she does notReally see me

Cause she seesHer own reflection

And I'm tryingNot to notice

That she's hitchingUp her skirt

And while she'sStraightening her stockings

Her hairHas gotten wet

Oh, this rainIt will continue

Through the morningAs I'm listening

To the bellsOf the cathedral

I am thinkingOf your voice...

And of the midnight picnicOnce upon a time

Before the rain began...

I finish up my coffeeIt's time to catch the train
