Step Upto

That’s because they demonstrate, every minute of every day, a passion to make a difference for our customers and communities, save money, and be the best they can be.

In return, we offer every single colleague who works here the opportunity to take their career as high and as far as they want to. More than an offer, it’s a pledge – a pledge of Opportunity For All.

As part of this pledge, we’ve changed the whole process of applying for promotion. The new process is faster, transparent, simpler and will be used consistently across the whole of the Asda business.

It’s called Step Up, and I know it will make it easier for everyone to make the most of Asda’s amazing world of opportunity.

FOR ME, ONE OF THE BEST THINGS ABOUT ASDA IS THAT WE GENUINELY BELIEVE IN OUR COLLEAGUES.

HAYLEY TATUM SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT - PEOPLE & STORES

“HOW DO I GET ON AROUND HERE?”We want to make it clear that it’s your career. Only you can decide where you want to take it and when you’re ready to take the next step. But when you think the time’s right, Step Up is the new way – the ONLY way – to make your move. Here’s how it works:

You spot a next-level role on the Recruitment site on Wire that you think you’d really enjoy and that you fully believe you can deliver in.

Assess yourself against the Step Up criteria and have this assessment signed off by your Line Manager.

Apply for the role on Wire.

If your application is successful, you’ll be interviewed for the new role.

If you’re successful – and we hope you are – you’ll be given your promotion and pay award in line with our pay bandings as soon as you start in the new role.

You’ll be straight into your new role, with access to all the training materials you’ll need to be the best you can be.

Opportunity For All is our pledge to you, whether you’re ready to take your next Step Up into a promotion or looking to grow your knowledge and experience at your current level. Opportunity Maps is a tool to help you understand which roles are of interest to you and will play a part in achieving your career goals. Whatever your choice, we’re right behind you.

Your next step

It’s an Opportunity for All to Step Up!

It’s important for you to define and take control of your career and through simplifying the promotion process we have demonstrated our true commitment to this message.

Being ready to fully deliver at the next level is something that you need to be certain of before applying for the role. Do everything you can to make sure you’re prepared. Talk to people who have been

recently promoted, obtain and work on feedback and use the Leadership Academy to develop your skills.

There are some fantastic modules and development programmes available that will help you prepare for that next step to promotion. Participating in this sort of development will demonstrate how committed you are to progressing your career.

And remember, your next career move might not be a vertical one – gaining broader experience at your present level might be a better choice than a Step Up.

The world of opportunity at Asda is ready when you are.

I’m very excited about Step Up. We’ve worked hard to make the process of promotion as clear and transparent as possible so that everyone, at every level, can make the most of their careers at Asda.

Asda will continue to grow and prosper into the future, and we want all our colleagues to grow and prosper with us. We know that if you enjoy your career with us, achieve your goals and feel valued, you’ll make Asda an even better business.
