“Centrica has received excellent support from the MCL Medics team, both onsite and offsite, during all the recent health initiatives. One outstanding area is the support and delivery of promotional material received from the team. The efficiency, design and attention to detail in all the posters, leaf-lets, hand-outs and presentations has been superb. This material not only increases awareness for our staff but also shows our “One Team” efforts in a professional light.”

HEALTH AND WELLBEING PROMOTION Workplace health promotion programmes are more likely to be successful if occupational health and safety is considered in its design and execution. A growing body of evidence indicates that workplace based interventions that are needs assessed and take a co-ordinated or integrated approach to reducing health threats to workers, both in and out of work, are more effective than traditional isolated programmes.

MCL Medics Occupational Health Services takes a systematic approach to building a workplace health promotion programme.

Our process consists of four main steps:

» An initial assessment to define employee health risks and concerns, and describe current health promotion activities, capacity and needs

» A planning process to develop the components of a workplace health programme. This includes setting goals and selecting priority interventions

» Programme implementation involving all the steps needed to put health promotion strategies and interventions into place, and making them available to employees

» Systematic evaluation to investigate the effectiveness of any health promotion activity

TRAVEL HEALTH ADVICE AND VACCINATIONS MCL Medics Occupational Health Services provide a comprehensive travel health advice and vaccination service. Our Occupational Health Nurse will complete a pre-travel health consultation specifically designed to prepare individuals for international travel. Our Occupational Health Nurses have expert knowledge of relative risks in particular worldwide destinations. At the consultation they will:

» Assess overall medical health and discuss any current medications

» Highlight any diseases that the traveller may be exposed to on their planned trip

» Discuss any potential health implications

» Recommend vaccinations and outline any possible side-effects

While immunisations represent an important part of the travel consultation, our expert travel health advice also includes disease prevention, inclusive of Malaria and Yellow Fever, practical steps to be taken to reduce the risk of infectious diseases, medical supplies and chemoprophylaxis (anti-malarials).

Our tailored programme ensures that maximum protection is achieved prior to travel. Individuals are given a vaccine record card which will detail the vaccinations given and a schedule for subsequent vaccines and boosters. MCL Medics is a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre (YFVC) and we can issue an International Certification of Vaccination to anyone travelling to a country at risk of Yellow Fever that requires certification for entry.
