Well we are coming to the end of another calendar year, and I think that it is once again appropriate to offer thanks to the community of Thorsby Junior Senior High School for all their hard work in the previous year. Students, you are the most important aspect of our world. Thanks for every-thing that you do to make our school and community a better place. We really have excellent young people in our school, they are always willing to help. Parents, thank you for all your continued support with the school and commu-nity. Without your support our jobs would be much more difficult. We know that you are trying your hardest to send us your best and please know that we are trying our hardest to help your child develop. A special group of parents our PTA (Mrs. Chung, Mrs. Knopp, Mrs. Birch, Mrs. Stern, Mrs. Mudry, Mrs. Stratychuk), thank you for all your hard work, dedica-tion, time. Our school programs thrive due to all the work you do.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Pilon and Mrs. Dutton our custodians, they work tirelessly making sure that the school is clean and functional for every-one that uses it. They volunteer their time to run concessions at our dances, the breakfast programs and anything we need at the school.
Mrs. Verhun and Ms. Leeder, thank you for all the hard work that you do support our students. You routinely help/support 90-100 students each and every day and even though they may not appreciate it currently they will when they are successful adults.
Mrs. Raugust, it has been wonderful having you full time this school year. You are also instrumental in providing a quiet, productive workplace for our students. You are also willing to help build school spirit in any way.
Mrs. Eliasson and Mrs. McLeod, I said it last year and will say it again, the office would likely start fire if it weren’t for you two. Thanks for every-thing that you do.
Mrs. Engler thanks for helping our grade 7’s orient to the building, your work with drama and our extracurricular programs allow us offer more oppor-tunities to our students and I know that it is appreciated.
Mr. Feil thanks for everything you do with our extracurricular pro-grams. Coaching from September to June is hard and the impact that you have on students out of the classroom is enormous.

Ganton Gazette, cont Ms. Fenske, I know that being a new teacher anywhere is difficult and
Thorsby has a bit of a reputation of giving new teachers a run for their mon-ey. You have done an excellent job so far dealing with issues and getting in-volved in cross country running.
Ms. Gramlich, thanks for stepping to take on grad this year, with that and all you do for the academics at THS has been lucky to have you for so long.
Mrs. Lidkea, thanks for keeping me on my toes with your name change. You have done an excellent job with the students union and making sure that the school spirit and engagement has been held high. You have also done an excellent job supporting our students through learning support.
Mr. Morrisseau, thanks for spending the time to develop the artistic/musical side of so many students in the school. It is awesome to see our stu-dents playing their guitars in the library for others and developing their love of music.
Mr. Proc, thanks for keeping so many students engaged in construction projects, I know that you are always pushing students to make new projects and try new things. I’m sure that the skills the students learn in the shop will benefit them in the future.
Mrs. Sauer, thanks for basically being our social studies depart-ment. You are extremely dedicated to offering quality instruction and assess-ment. Your work with our art program has made it one of the premier pro-grams in the district and finally the work you do with Student’s Union makes our school a better place.
Mr. Van Horn, thanks for helping take care of the building when I am gone. I know that everything will be dealt with effectively and efficient-ly. Your attention to detail is second to none. Also thanks for helping coach basketball and being available to help with any aspect of the school.
Mrs. van Steenis, thanks for being the other half of keeping the school on the rails when I’m gone. Your dedication to our foods program has made it better each and every year. Also thanks for helping with grad as that is a huge responsibility.
Finally, a big thanks to my family that will be growing by one over the holidays, my wife and kids put up with lots through the year as this isn’t al-ways a job that I can leave at home.
I hope that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. Here is a picture of Ruby after she got her last certificate at swimming lessons and Jack building one of the projects at Home Depot.

Join us for the Second Annual THS Staff vs
Students Hockey Game!
Friday, December 22
Arctic Spas Recreation Centre
Last year we saw the staff pull off a spectacular victory over the students in the shootout. Mr. Mitchell beared down on net and slotted the puck past Con-nor Crow in order to win the game.
This year, the staff and parents are looking forward to challenging the students once again and presumably beating them easily....good luck. Schedule:
Student players and teacher players will leave school at the beginning of lunch to get changed for the game
Rest of the students will leave the school after period 5 attendance
Announcing the rosters
O’ Canada
Puck drop around 1:00PM
27 minute run time periods
Team hand shake and pictures at the end
Everyone will return to the school after the game is over

Merry Christmas from the Staff at TJSHS!
First of all the Student's Union would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and staff who volunteered to chaperone our dance in No-vember. Without you events like this wouldn't happen. Secondly, Congratulations to Kennedy Crow on winning the $100 gift card for selling Purdy’s. Kennedy sold almost $900 worth of chocolates! Thank you again to everyone who sold and bought chocolates for this fundraiser.
December has been a busy month for Students' Union; we had our sec-ond movie night where we enjoyed chicken nuggets, fries, candy and the movie Shrek. We also sold Santa Grams. Pizza sales were also a hit.
