A COMPETITION to findthe best poets and shortstory writers in the regionis hotting up as competitionentries start coming in tothe PENfro Book Festival.

Closing dates are beingextended for the two compe-titions linked to the annualliterature event to Thurs-day, July 31. The winnerswill be announced at PEN-fro 2014, held at Rhosygil-wen, near Cilgerran, in mid-September.

We have decided to ex-tend the deadlines to give

people more time to enterthis year partly becauseour poetry judge, Alan Kel-lermann, will be reading allthe poetry entries himself,said PENfros deputy chair,Jackie Biggs.

Guest judge for the shortstory contest is Maria Do-novan, whose work appearsregularly in magazines andanthologies.

The subject is open in bothcompetitions, but there is amaximum length of 40 linesfor each poem entered, anda word limit of 3,000 for thestories. Entry fee is 4 apoem, 5 a story.
