Rising Star award for SoniaCongratulations to Sonia Donoghue, who has been judged a RisingStar of 2012 by the Garden Centre Association. After being nominatedfor the award, Sonia gave a presentation on sustainability to win theaccolade with three other young people from across the country.

    who will also visit Garsons.

Delicious tomato cropsGarsons has some new grafted tomato plants, which have been used by commercial growers for years, and are now available in the garden centre.

rials have shown impressive results: grafted plants grow faster and have up to 75% more fruit with greater disease resistance and a longer croppingeriod even more reason to get growing!omatoes are easy to grow, even for complete beginners and its so rewarding to pick and eat your own home-grown crop.

imply pick up three plants from the garden centre, along with bambooanes, a growbag and some tomato food. Most people plant straightnto the growbag, or you can tip the contents into a large container.f using a growbag:

Place the growbag in a sunny but sheltered spot and positionon its side, rather than at as this gives more depth for

he roots. Push the soil down a little to give a stable base.

Cut three big holes and space out the plants in the bag, rming andwatering them in.

Keep well watered, usually daily if its a dry spell, and feed every weekr so with a liquid feed such as Tomerite.

Pinch out side-shoots to get more fruit, then discard any distorted ormouldy fruit.

Enjoy the fruits of your labour with your favourite dishes!
