Tips 1.ppt - 1
• PRESENTING SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK/TASK
OBJECTIVES , DELIVERABLES , OUTCOME AND
ACHIEVEMENT OF OBJECTIVES
• PRESENTING OR REFLECTING WORK DONE BY
A TEAM AS THAT OF A TEAM MEMBER
• ALWAYS CLARIFY ONE'S SCOPE OF ACTUAL
PARTICIPATION IN A TEAM EFFORT
( NOTE : MORE IMPORTANT IS THE PERCEIVED
GAINFUL LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT !! )
Tips 1.ppt - 1
Many candidates submit drawings etc
produced by the firm with minimal
input by the candidate.
The drawings/design should reflect the
candidate’s own work.
The design etc should be of sufficient
level to justify granting professional
status.
Drawings:
Tips 1.ppt - 1
Can submit computerised
calculations but must be
accompanied by manual
calculations showing assumptions,
considerations required in the
design and why these were selected

The Professional
Interview
Some of the weaknesses that caused candidates to fail the professional
interview.
Candidate submitted inadequate report ontraining & experience. No elaboration ofexperiences given. No illustration of problemsencountered and solved. Design works seemstoo simple and drawings for foundation do nottally with the calculations. Both the reports arenot acceptable.
The reports do not show sufficient engineeringcontent but focus more on quality management.
The report outlined the candidate’s pastexperience but lacking on the technical aspectand need further elaboration. The candidate maynot fully understand the requirement of thereport submission.
Tips 1.ppt - 1
The documents are all computer print out and can’t be assessed. No specifications submitted.
Insufficient explanation on design calculations submitted. Insufficient quantities eg excavation is given. Specifications not submitted.
Candidate had limited exposure in design. The submitted design for Bird house is basic university lecture material. Presentation of design report needs improvement. Output for design not clearly tabulated for the different load case. Quantities and specifications not submitted.
Tips 1.ppt - 1
Report should focus on sufficient information on
the particular design i.e. design data, sketches and
drawings. Drawings does not reflect design done
by candidate. Report thickened with unnecessary
items.
Report is neat and presentable but lacks technical
content and does not exhibit the training and
exposure the candidate underwent. Calculations
and drawings are neat but many basic
discrepancies i.e. span length, cover, differs
between drawings and calculations.
