Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our
community and for all who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering
may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you
close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast
spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so
join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus
who healed those who believed. Amen.

Prayer for Advent
Lord Jesus, you alone can satisfy the deepest longings
of the human heart.
Through baptism, you have claimed us for yourself, but too
often we live as if we belong only to ourselves.
May this season of Advent remind us that you have blessed
us, so that, in gratitude, we may live the gospel more
faithfully.
As we prepare to celebrate the miracle of your Incarnation,
may we attend to the needs of our suffering
brothers and sisters,
the body of Christ in our midst. Amen.

Fulfillment: The Fourth Sunday of Advent
On this Sunday we rejoice at the good news of the Incarnation.
“Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor
with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you
shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most
High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he
will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of this kingdom there will be no
end.” (Luke 1:30-33)
Family Advent Activity: Spend Time at the Crib -
Encourage each member of your family to spend some quiet time in prayer
near the Nativity scene at home or in your parish. What does the manger
teach us? How could God allow his Son to be born in a stable? Give thanks
for the gift of Christ and the joy of the Christmas season to come.
Reflect: How might we be better witnesses, like the angels, to God’s love
for us in Christ?
