Why did the Saxons invade Hastings?

• Harold Godwinson was given the throne and this made William, who was the Norman King who conquered England, angry. This started the Battle of Hastings, where William ended up winning.

• Oxford is a city in central-southern Europe. It is known for being a university and home of the University of Oxford, the oldest University in England and the English speaking world.

• Chess first appeared in Southern Europe during the end of the first millennium. It was introduced to English by conquering armies, in this case, the Normans conquered England.
