Function of the Musculoskeletal System
The functions of the musculoskeletal system are:
• protection • formation of blood cells (hematopoiesis)
• support • storage of fat in the bone marrow
• movement • storage and release of minerals (especially calcium)

Cartilagechondral -pertaining to cartilage
Cartilage is a dense connective tissue.
It is part of the embryonic skeleton, but as the embryo matures, it is replaced by bone.
After birth, cartilage is in the external ear, nasal septum, windpipe, between the vertebrae, and covers bone surfaces where they meet.
