Principal’s Report
Thank you so much for the way that you have worked with
us on the staged return to school for all our students.
As school and classroom learning is now back approaching
normal, we have been considering what we, as teachers at
Tighes Hill PS, have learnt from the experience of providing
the Learning@Home materials and how we can deliver
better learning in the future at school and at home as a
result.
Our natural desire to be social and enjoying each other’s
company face-to-face has been underlined by the joy
evident as our students returned to school last week. The
buzz and happiness of the conversations and interactions
around the school in the breaks and in classrooms was
infectious and actively commented on by staff and
students.
As we continue to negotiate this social reemergence, I look
forward to parents returning to the school site hopefully in
the near future. In the meantime, while we wait for this to
be relaxed, I feel a strong sense of community in the way
parents and families are supporting each other at Tighes Hill
PS. I encourage you to keep on actively caring for each
other as we continue the journey together.

Hygiene and Safety
The staged return is supporting us as we implement new
hygiene systems. We have additional cleaning during the
day, sanitising high touch points such as handrails, tables,
play equipment and the toilets. In addition we have more
supplies of sanitiser and disinfectant wipes. Children should
always stay at home if they are sick and parents/carers will
be called to collect any child who is displaying flu like
symptoms.
Students only onsite
Please remember to ‘kiss and drop off’ outside the school
gate each morning and arrange to meet children at the
end of the school day outside the fence, if possible. All
adults are responsible for adhering to social distancing
regulations when waiting for their children.
If you need face to face contact before, during or after
school please go to the Office only. Alternatively you can
ring or email the school account.
Semester One Student Reports
We have started creating revised Semester One Student
Reports to send home to parents/carers in Week 10.
Because of the mixture of learning at school and home
during the first half of the 2020 school year, the report
format will look different, with a focus on student
engagement in English and Mathematics and attitudes
and commitment to learning.
Head lice
Head lice have been problematic in the past few months.
Please take the opportunity to treat your child’s hair and
remember to retreat after 7 days as lice have a 5-7 day cy-
cle and if you miss even one egg you will find that re-
infestation occurs very quickly.

Kindergarten Enrolments for 2021
To enable us to correctly estimate enrolments and staff the
school appropriately for 2021, I need all parents enrolling
children K-6 to complete enrolment forms and leave their
details at the office. Please let me know of any neighbours
and friends, who may not have children already at this
school but will have school age children for 2021 so we can
then contact them and include them on our numbers for
next year.
Congratulations to all our children and staff.
