    Tis week at Ocer rainingSchool, interim Wing and Squadrolevel boards were held in preparator Class 11-04s departure to theAerospace Expeditionary Force (Aexercise next week. Te Squadronnumber one and two positions welled along with the Wings top vpositions; Wing Commander, VicWing Commander, Mission SuppGroup Commander, Operations GCommander, and Operations ConCenter Chie. Applicants to the bowere selected by the Lower FlightCommanders and the Assistant Lo

    Flight Commanders. Te chosenunderclassmen submited a packagto the Squadron board rst and wthrough an interview process. Athe Squadron one and two positiowere lled, the remaining individusubmitted packages to the wingboard or review and went througanother round o interviews.     I was born in Fayetteville, N.C., but Igrew up right here outside o Montgomery.My ather was an Air Force pilot; and while

    was in college. I decided that I wantedo do the same. Aer nearly two years

    o lling out paperwork, taking tests and

    physicals, ying airplanes, and interviewing,I nally nd mysel here at Ocer rainingSchool working to become a world classocer. Aer commissioning, I willproceed to Undergraduate Pilot raining inColumbus, Miss.

    I have been married or a little over twoyears to my wie, Jillian Barger. OS is oneo the most challenging programs that Ihave ever been through, and having that

    amily support motivates me each day tocontinue pursuing excellence in all that Ido here. Just a ew months beore I le orOS, we ound out that we were expectinga child. Tis past week we were excited tond out that we are going to be having aboy, and his name is Connor Scott Barger.Knowing that I am going to be a atherhelps motivate me even more to do mybest at OS. Not only will I have to lead byexample or Airmen, I will have to do the

    Flight 3-12 was awarded the honoo being named Academic Flight o Week or week our on March 26, 20It was a proud moment or the Flighwell as the whole iger Squadron. Ao our hard work over the past coupweeks will show itsel through a strewhich Flight 3-12 will proudly garn

    their guidon. As interim iger One Academics Leader, I am especially po the efort put in by all the membe3-12 and look orward to adding mamore streamers over the weeks to co

    Id like to take this opportunity tochallenge the members o 3-12 to usthis accomplishment as motivation continue to excel academically so thwe may represent the igers well. WCW #1 and SP #1 out o the way,both with Flight averages above 90%have an even larger week ahead o uCW #2 is just days away, as well asbriengs, the PFD, and Combativesyour time wisely, and keep pushing another to be the best. I know we cait...Lead the Way, igers!

    On March 24th, 2011, Flight 3-12avelled out to the ring range or

    ur Air Force Qualication CourseAFQC) on the M9. Beore beingble to re the M9, we were providedassroomstruction. We

    uickly ranrough handlinge weapon saely,e diferent parts

    the weapon,nd proper ringchnique. Even

    ough this was ary quick lecture,was still long

    nough or one Ocatch a minute or two o shuteye;GH I! Aer the classroomstruction we proceeded to the ringnge or some practice rounds.At the newly constructed ringnge, we donned ear protection andarted loading six magazines with 15

    rounds each. Te rst three magazineswere used or a practice AFQC. wo

    chalk circles were placed on thetarget denoting where we needed toshoot to score the corret hit. We were

    instructed toshoot two roundsin the body andone round in thehead. Te targetstarted out atseven meters, wasthen pushed backto 15 meters and

    nally 25 meters.Aer the practiceround a new targetwas attached,

    but this time the circles were drawnin pen making them harder to see.Many Os were hoping or expertqualication; in order to achieve thatdistinction, they needed to place 43shots on paper with 25 to the body,and six to the head. Flight 3-12 ended

    4th Training Squadron Commander, Lt. Col. Ted E. Welch, joined the upper-class and lower-

    lass Tigers in an early morning spirit run on March 26, 2011.

Overall, the day a good break rom normal classroactivities.
