Antiqueboasts its natural gifts and the colorful history of its people; it is just appropriate to be called the Land of Extremes because it is the home of the worlds biggest flower the rafflesia speciosa and the tallest flower amorphophalus among other rare species of flora and fauna which is endemic in the province, the Bugang River of Pandan was named as one of the cleanest inland body of water in the Philippines and of course the shores of Malandog in Hamtic, Antique was the landing site of the ten datus from Borneo and where the first Malayan settlement in the Philippines was established.Whenever tourism in Antique is talked about, the famous sites would include Pandan, Tibiao, Culasi, Anini-y and Valderrama, these municipalities have their own attractions that draw tourists to visit. Behind the shadows of its neighboring municipalities, tourism development is Sibalom, home of the persevering people bounded by the spirit of buruyloganay (a local version of bayanihan). Mostly an agricultural and mountainous municipality, Sibalom was dubbed as the rice granary of Antique. Having no beaches or scenic islands to offer (located in the central part of Antique, away from the shoreline) Sibalom compensates with its bountiful and unique forest resources. Sibalom Natural Park was established by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 282, making it the first protected area in the island of Panay. About 5,000 hectares of forest in Sibalom- from Mt. Porras extending to Mt. Igmatindog- has been declared by the President of the Philippines on April 23, 2000 as a Natural Park. Of this forest size, 672 hectares is undisturbed by any human activity while about 4,223 hectares constitutes the 50 year old reforestation site.
