NEW DELHI, Jan 6:
In a bid to create jobs andpromote entrepreneurship, theCabinet today approved Rs8,000- crore funds that willstand guarantee for loans to newventures and also announced'Stand up India' scheme for cred-it facilities to SC, ST andwomen entrepreneurs at lowerrates.
While the Rs 3,000 croreMUDRA Credit GuaranteeFund (CGF) will act as hedgeagainst default of Rs 50,000 toRs 10 lakh loan extended tosmall entrepreneurs, the Rs5,000 crore Stand Up India CGFwill stand guarantee for Rs 10lakh to Rs 1 crore loans to beprovided to least 2.5 lakh SC/STand women.
The Cabinet, headed byPrime Minister Narendra Modi,today cleared creation of aCredit Guarantee Fund forMUDRA loans, FinanceMinister Arun Jaitley toldreporters here.
It also gave its nod to con-vert MUDRA Ltd, a pet ventureof the Centre for funding smallbusinesses, into MUDRA-SIDBI Bank, a wholly ownedsubsidiary of Small Industries
Development Bank of India(SIDBI).
The Government had lastyear set up MUDRA Ltd as anon- banking finance company(NBFC).(PTI)

Bollywood superstar AamirKhan, whose comments on per-ceived intolerance in the countryhad created a controversy, ceas-es to be the mascot forGovernment's 'Incredible India'campaign as the contract for ithas expired.
"Our contract was with theMcCann Worldwide agency for'Atithi Devo Bhava' campaign.The agency had hired Aamir forthe job. Now the contract withthe agency is over. Ministry hasnot hired Aamir.
"It was the agency which hashired him. Since the contractwith the agency is no more,automatically the arrangementwith the actor no longer exists,"Union Tourism Minister MaheshSharma said today.
Asked specifically whetherAamir is still Tourism Ministry'sbrand ambassador, the Minister
said, "Definitely not".'Atithi Devo Bhava' cam-
paign, part of the IncredibleIndia campaign was launchedduring the UPA regime.
Earlier, the ministry issued avague statement in response tocertain news reports followingGovernment's answer to a RTIquery on the issue.
"In response to certain newsreports appearing in the media,about Aamir Khan, the Ministryof Tourism clarifies that there isno change in the stand of theMinistry in this matter.
"The Ministry further clari-fies that at present it has a con-tractual agreement with creativeagency McCann Worldwide toproduce social awareness cam-paign and the said campaign fea-tured Aamir Khan," the ministrystatement said.
Two months ago, Aamir hadmade controversial comments
on perceived intolerance in thecountry for which he was criti-cised by many senior UnionMinisters.
At an event here, Aamir hadsaid that his wife Kiran Rao hadasked if they should move out ofthe country, as she feared for thesafety of their children in a cli-mate of insecurity.
When contacted, PrasoonJoshi, the head of McCannWorldwide agency, only said,"We at McCann had a contractu-al agreement with the Ministryof Tourism for a social aware-ness campaign Atithi devobhava'. Aamir Khan had gra-ciously lent his support for the
same. We have delivered thecampaign to the Ministry."
Sharma said the contract forRs 2.96 crore with McCannWorldwide agency was nowover.
According to ministry offi-cials, fresh tenders will be float-ed to device any new campaign,if required.
Officials said a report by theministry's market and researchdivision will also help in pickingup a new face for the campaignin future.
However, indications werethat Aamir is unlikely to figurein the future campaign, sourcessaid. (PTI)
