NEW DELHI, Jan 22:
To check stagnation andinefficiency among babus, theCentre has decided to put a capon direct recruitments to variousGroup A services like IFS andIRS.
The direct recruitments tothese services will be up to threeper cent of the sanctioned cadrestrength, as per a new draft poli-cy finalised today by theDepartment of Personnel andTraining (DoPT).
The restriction of three percent, which was first introducedin 1998, was removed in 2010.However, this removal ofrestriction has given rise to largeintake by the cadres which is amatter of great concern as it hasbeen observed that over recruit-ment causes stagnation whichresults in demotivation in youngofficers, it said.
In addition, over recruitmentalso distorts the cadre structure, strains the organisational infra-structure and affects the overallefficiency of the cadres, theDoPT said.
"Therefore, it is proposed
that the restriction of directrecruitments up to three percent of the sanctioned cadrestrength may be reintroducedin all central Group A servicewith immediate effect," itsaid.(PTI)
