ICF (Insulated Concrete Formwork) is based on hollow lightweight insulated block components thatcan be locked together without the requirement for mortar to form a construction formwork frame.The space within the formwork is then poured with concrete, creating a structurally strong concreteproperty with exceptionally high thermal properties. Webbing within the blocks tie the sides of theblocks together as well as allowing for reinforcement bars to be installed.

Using the JUB Home ICF system is not only a highly efficient, economical methodof building, but also with the exceptional thermal levels achieved with the wallblocks, JUB Home is the ideal choice for achieving Passive House standards andreducing energy consumption and energy costs.

The Jub Home system can also consist of JUB Home Base andJUB Home Roof which provides not only high thermalperformance, but also produces an airtight shell.

When designing and building a high thermal performanceproperty, care and consideration should be undertakenwith elements such as windows and doors as well as heatrecovery and underfloor heating.

The JUB Home system is installed by approved operatives and companies withexperience in construction to ensure that the build process is as efficient andcost effective as possible.

JUB Home is also partnered with BLP Insurance for the building warranty schemewhich also ensures less delays and problems with the administration of thebuild process.

JUB BASE raft foundation is assembled upon a layer of lean concretewith a bituminous waterproof membrane. All services are broughtthrough the base before the JUB Base components are laid down. Theblocks are cut to allow for the services and all openings sealed.

Reinforcement is installed across the foundation before the casting ofthe foundation takes place. Once the casting has been completed andlevelled then the next stage can begin.

The JUB WALL components are all identified and installed in accordancewith the JUB Home site building plan. All closure plates will be fitted toseal off areas such as the windows and doors and prevent concreteleakage. Lintel and building dimensional blocks are installed whererequired ready for the first concrete pour at the top of the ground floorlevel. The structure is braced prior to the concrete pour, the JUB Homespecification for the concrete has a higher slump level than other ICFsystems which means the pour rate is quicker. This is achieved dueto the excellent strength qualities of an uncut system.

Once the JUB WALL has been constructed to roof level, then the spacefor the services on the internal walls can be cut out. It is recommendedthat a hot wire cutter is used for this to cut the channels out cleanly.

When the services have been installed and the roof is complete theinternal plastering / rendering can commence. JUB Home recommendsits basecoat with glass fibre reinforcing mesh for added strength beforeusing the Jubolin plaster finish internally.

The external render system used should be compatible with ICF blocks andJUB Home recommends it’s basecoat with reinforcing mesh (6mm) andone of the many topcoat renders. If the blocks have been exposed tosunlight for 1 month prior to the rendering taking place then it isrecommended that the surface is rasped to remove the UV film whichcan affect the adhesion of the render.

Choose a Pre-Designed JUB HomeOr design your own JUB Home

JUB HOME offers the best of both worlds, whether you choose one of16 architecturally designed JUB HOMES or whether you have your ownplans and wish to have this designed into the JUB HOME block system.

OPTION 1

The 16 pre-designed JUB HOMES are available with a full set of ICF blockcomponents and floor and elevation layouts. Choosing one of thepre-designed properties reduces the overall costs of the project andenables a faster start on site.

OPTION 2

When building your own home you may want to have your own ideas onthe layout and design. If you have your own design just email them tojubhome@jub.org.uk and we will arrange for a full ICF block design basedon your drawings. We will arrange that if the design does not fit with our77 block elements that we will create bespoke blocks to ensure the designdoes work. By providing this service we reduce on the wastage on site andreduce the overall costs and speed of construction.

OPTION 3

Option 3 you can take the JUB HOME design as inspiration and add yourIdeas to this for your perfect home. Once you have your own designs thenJust forward them to us and we will provide the block design you require.

JUB Home is approved by BLP Insurance with regard to an intent to insurenew homes building warranty with a minimum of 60 years durability.

JUB Home ICF Block Elements77 standard block elements with bespoke blocks where requiredmeans that the build process will go a smoothly as possible.Eliminating the problems with on-site cutting and making goodand ensuring that the structure you have is ultimately as strongas possible with no weak points.

The entry level system is the 390mm block which will achieve ahigh thermal U Value performance of 0.13W/m²K.

The 465mm block achieves a U Value below 0.10W/m²K and development of the 525mm block will achieve anultimately low U Value of 0.08W/m²K . The 300mm internal block offers excellent thermal benefits as well asreduced sound transmission between rooms.
