INTRODUCTION• Thrissur Railway Station – commenced on June
2, 1902 • A-1 category railway station located in Thrissur
City.• It lies on the busy Shoranur – Cochin Harbour
section.• Also connects to the temple town of Guruvayur.• 65 pairs of trains passes through the station on
an average day. • Have a traffic of 20,000 passengers per day.
NEED ANALYSIS • Growth of passenger traffic.• New trains are coming – Budget 2013.• Ernakulam - Thrissur MEMU will start running.• 3rd and 4th rails have been started using.• Passengers have to cross the rail to reach 4th
platform.• Passengers have to walk a lot of distance to get
bus towards North stand or Sakthan stand.
SUMMARY• Development of Thrissur railway station.• To supply necessary facilities for the comfort of
increasing passengers.• To provide platform facilities for increasing
number of trains and passengers.
