As we move into the Fall and Winter seasons, I wish you a happy and joyful holiday season on behalf of the Bollinger Hills Board of Directors. Around the Association, our hillside preservation project (behind the tennis courts) is nearly complete. The goal was to stabilize the eroding hillside with needed retaining walls and also landscape this area which until now was the last remaining un-landscaped area in Bollinger Hills.

Many thanks to our vice-president John Youngblood for volunteering many hours to manage this project! As you are no doubt aware, during these though economic times many communities are faced with home foreclosures. In Bollinger Hills we have had a relatively few, but some may be obvious by the visual condition. Unfortunately, the BHHOA Board is not able to step in and renovate the “curb appeal” of such a residence. In most cases such a house is financially “under water,” and the Association would not be re-paid for expenses incurred for repair and up-keep.

On a brighter note, our annual holiday light judging will take place on Friday Dec 19. Make sure your lights are ON! We’ll load up the Suburban with holiday cheer, and do our best to recognize those houses that have truly done us proud. Please have a safe and happy holiday season, and we’ll let you know the “light contest” winners in our next newsletter.

The above is a list of investments. Cash balances are invested in a money market account and CD at present. We can invest them in treasury bills and notes, money market funds and certificates of deposit as long as we do not incur capital risk. We maintain $153k in reserves for capital improvements and major repairs. We have another $97k in operating and planned spending funds. Dues are due on the first day of each January and July. They are delinquent on the 30th of each of those months as stated in the COLLECTION POLICY. It is important that each homeowner pay his/her dues promptly to enable our Association to continue providing service at low cost and to avoid being charged fees for untimely payments. We have some repair and improvement projects planned for the next one to five years which include major tree work along Bollinger Canyon, Cabana parking lot re-paving, re-painting the sound walls, pool area improvements including additional table seating and a permanente shade structure at the rear of the pool deck. If you would like more information or to be involved, please notify us at [email protected].

Have you checked out the Bollinger Hills Website lately? We’ve added a great feature called the Bollinger Hills Community Bulletin Board. This is a great place for Bollinger Hills residents to communicate with neighbors. You can post a variety of information such as

anouncements of neighborhood events or meetings. Having a yard sale? Block party? Post it on the bulletin board! Just about anything (within reason) can be posted. Near the bottom of the BHHOA website (www.bollingerhills.org) you will find a link to the Bollinger Hills Community Bulletin Board. On this bulletin board, you will soon be able to find HOA announcements, neighborhood security notices, and CERT information. Please note that this is a moderated board, which means that all messages are reviewed prior to appearing on the BHHOA website. You should normally see your message within 24 hours.
